We were talking about old films today, and which scene from an old film really stuck on our minds.

This is mine:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrZbUS0MaY4

The singing of the Zulus makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, and when Men Of Harlech starts as a counter-point it is just superb!

So what is your favourite bit from an old film?

favourite classic movie scenes for me are from the spagetti westerns.

Clint Eastwood asking four gunslingers to apologise to his horse, before dispatching them, excellent.

All the rest that spring to mind are car chases, Blues Brothers clips...

Watched Shawshank again just last night:D

And I think Roy Batty is Rutger Hauer's best role.

I couldn't tell you, as it would completely spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen The Shawshank Redemption (which, IMO, is, or will become, an all-time classic movie). The look on the governers face! That is all I will say!

Others ...

Pulp Fiction is littered with classic movie scenes ...

Bruce Willis (Butch) and Ving Rhames (Marcellus) in Zeds basement

Butch: "It's a chopper baby"
Fabienne: "Who's Chopper is it?"
Butch: "It's Zed's"
Fabienne: "Who's Zed?"
Butch: "Zed's dead baby. Zed's dead"

John Travolta and Uma Thurman in the dancing competition

Quentin Tarantino (as Jimmy), Harvey Keitel (The Wolf), and John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson doing the "cleaning".

There's too many to mention really.

What about The Matrix too? Particularly thinking about Neo dodging the bullets? Surely that can be classed as a classic for the technology it used.
Not sure if it was the first movie to use this technology, but we certainly all associate that technology with that movie scene.

Rocky: "Adrienne!!"

ET: "Phone home"

Ok, I'll stop now ... I have work to do ;-) LOL

As the goods folks say, there are a lot aren't there? I am going to pick the final death scene moments in "Philadelphia" when firends and family are all calling in to see Andrew,(Tom Hanks) and his brother breaks down. I am not normally an emotional movie viewer but that scene always gets the hard boiled egg caught in my throat.:(

Ice Cold in Alex was the first one that came to my mind. You saved me having to search for a clip of it. Must buy the DVD sometime, though I've been saying that for years.

I like the rubbish movie Black Hawk Down. Can't point to any one scene in particular but the action scenes in general are terrific even if the overall offering is rather poor.

Night of the hunter: Probably the scene where the children are in the barn and you hear the hymn & see his silhoette going past on the horizon. If that makes sense..... can't find it so.....
