Nope not Tescos but I did go into the Co-op on the way home.
Ballamory - good one, it does look like that. But not the right answer I'm afraid:D

Well I reckon it's one of the harbours on Cardigan Bay, seeing as you went there and back in a day.
I'll plump for Barmouth. Am I close?

Aberdovey.
Aberdovey.
Gold star to kwak!!!
I knew you'd know where it is. I like the Welsh spelling, Aberdyfi. Pic was taken from just by the gents looking up the Dyfi river towards Machynlleth. It was as still as a millpond, hardly anyone around, sun gradually sinking. And bloody freezing cold. It's such a fantastic bike road from Tywyn, and then on to Mach and then back to Newtown through Caersws and Carno. Just terrific. Shame I was in the car really.

king Arther's caves are good as well if you haven't been, i was virtually raised in tywyn with my nan working in that cafe (now a chippy) on the corner:)

Aberdovey.
Was a toss up for me between the two. There were no significant landmarks that I recognised, but thought I could make out Barmouth railway viaduct. I guessed it was west coast of Wales, because you did it in a day.
I thought perhaps Aberaeron to start with, but decided the estuary is too wide.
BTW It's Aberdyfi.

Fank yooo
Kwak - it was late yesterday afternoon, not early morning. I was actually on the way back from Tywyn, where I was looking at a business oppo. I want to go ahead on it too, it wasn't a wasted trip.

Hell yes, Aberdyfi. It's so pretty, couldn't resist a pic. So different out of season - there's a ginormous car park further along the front and it was empty. In summer you can't get in the place.

I was going to make some Irish suggestions, but then I noticed that the railings were in perfect shape, so obviously that ruled that option out.
It's a bit soft looking for Ireland too.
It would have had to have been east coast.
Shandy drinkers and the like.
