View Full Version : I'm stupid or clever enough to let someone design a tattoo for me
I've been looking for a good one for years. I thought it'd be good and right to copy my Dad's until he told me he only got it because he was p***ed (in the Army) and he liked it at the time. He also liked it when he signed on for another three years after my Mum agreed to marry him!
If someone can find, or design me a good one, I'd be very grateful.
I've got very skinny arms and legs for my height but a wide chest. Ideally I'd like it on a shoulder/back/upper arm/chest. Or I could just do the stupid lazy thing and get the same as my Pa. I don't want a tramp stamp.
I want one that I can, in time, get touched up. Sexual innuendos not welcomed.
If a gooden comes up I will go with it. I'm a big fan of this forum even though I'm getting rid of the SV.
“Come on people now, smile on your brother. Everybody get together try to love one another right now.“

I have 3 tats, just so you know Im 6 ft and 65 kgs so you could say I fit the same "Slim" profile.
Ones a cheatah, next is a tribal cheetah combo. the last is a pure tribal. The first 2 r on each shoulder, the last on the front goes from just above the belt line to ... lower down:rolleyes:

oooh i have a tramp stamp. does this mean I am a tramp - woohoo
why not go into tattoo place and have a look at designs. show the idea to tattoo artist and say you want something like that but want it individualised.

Ask yourself what type you want, Tribal, letters, a character, etc.
From there you can check on the internet or go into any studio with an idea of what you want. Also when you have found a pictire or design you like, print it out and look at it every day. If by a month or so you are still happy with it then get it done. I have 4 large tats and I am happy with all of mine.
As a person who has also done some tattoo's for people I do believe that people should take care of who you go to to get it done.

It took me ages to find the design I finally chose. I wanted a dragon, but it had to be the right kind of dragon. It's worth waiting to be really sure you love the one you choose................you've got to live with it for a long time:D

I've never been a fan of getting someone else to design something as personal as a tattoo. I would come up with an idea and then work with a trusted artist to get it how you want. For the record I don't have any but have always pondered the idea, I just have a bit of extra metal on me.
As for ideas a friend of mine has "So What?" on his left arm and "Imagine" on his right. Another friend has a Phoenix on her wrist and Lilly's on her shoulder, her own design.
I've got 4 tats, and my biggest piece of advice is don't waste real estate! If you're gonna get something, plan how it will be grown over the years until you could have that complete area of body covered. I'm now looking at getting cover up work done so my little arm pieces can become full-fledged sleeves.
Ive got 10 tattoos and at the mo im trying to work on a cover up design, so i can only echo what people have said about the think long and hard about what you have done!
Also have a look at different tattooists and their artwork, i thought my one was great until i popped into the one near my work-needless to say i wished id had all my work done by her!
