And I'm in love. Rode the 90 miles home from Dumfries with a big silly grin on my face, after a couple of clutch mistakes it was fabulous:D

. What a difference compared to the VN900 on cornering, speed, everything. Feel like I can actually ride again- was losing confidence cos the VN was too big.

One thing - the guy in the bike shop said I didn't need to run it in cos it's restricted(33bhp) I didn't go above 6000 revs anyway, is there anything else I should be doing? He also said I should get 80mph out of it, and I got 96 easy before I eased off, and it felt like it had more too!

That's a new one on me but these guys seem to know - linky (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=100434) - and the Org thinking would seem to be "Oh yes you do!"

I am standing by to be corrected...

I was told the same when buying my sv, but then he said, "I personally would run it in anyway just incase, to get a better life out of the engine."

He never knew the bike wouldn't make it to 2 years old now did he.

Glad it cheered you up Shona.

That is one very naked SV. The black looks good with the frame done too. Silver frame, black tank etc? Not that clever.

Mines is sitting feeling very unloved at the moment too. I've not had her out for a little over a month now and it's bothering me.

Must try harder........

Yes, I didn't realise the frame was sometimes silver, I do like the black. The weathers looking good for this weekend, hopefully shall get a rideout then.

Do i need one do you think? What does it do?

Yep I love the black, it's my favourite bike colour.:)

Its a dangly bit (ooer) that fits to the lower section of the front fender that stops excess spray hitting the front cylinder and cooling and causing a miss fire (is that right Northy?) well thats what i thought.

No.
What does it do?
It does the same thing as the Maplins goop but makes your bike look bad ;)

No.

Good, thought they looked fugly.;) Gonna gies some goop? Met a biker today who reckoned the new sv's now have a rubber plug over the bit where water got in and it shouldn't happen now? True? False?

I'd say you will benefit from fitting one - especially on a naked bike. It does more than just keep water away from the front plug. Uglier than a black fender extenda on a black bike is a hole pile of mud & grime stuck to the oil cooler, oil filter, front downpipe etc. They help to reduce the amount of that stuff delivered to your engine by the water that noone likes.

A bellypan would look real nice on that bike too.

Wasl looking at bellypans- found a Powerbronze one for £69, are they an ok make? Is it something I'd need to have specially fitted or is it easy enough to do yourself?

Shona this is just my opinion so everyone dont start barking at me

I had a black curvy from new until 5yr old, they were notorious for front cylinder mishaps so I fitted a fugly fender extenda and in the 5 yr that I had the bike I didnt have a single problem. The extenda was hardly noticeable on the black fender.

On the other hand Blue flame has a pointy and he had an off because the problem caught him out.

My advice get one fitted theyre cheap and easy to fit

Blue Flame

Totally agree wi that sentiment.

Broke my wrist in four pieces and got a fracture on my vertebrae cos I did not buy a wee bit of plastic. ;)

northwind

Tiger is right, but Indie is also right. And so is Blue Flame. Confusing, eh? :) But I just use the silicon goop, muck adds character. And in my case, limpets.

Right you have convinced me. I'm having one of 'em extendas. And a belly pan, and, oh I knew this would happen......

The last thing I need is an off cos of a bit of plastic- fell off my Virago 125 last year (when it wasn't moving, oh the shame) and ruptured my cruciate ligament, so need to be sensible.

Heh, the worst injury I ever got on a bike was when I fell off my Virago 125 at 2mph after leaving the disc brake on, there must be something about those things. (hey, it's not W** RSC is it? Not many of these around any more, so there's got to be a fair chance you've got my old one...)

I miss mine. Makes no sense since frankly it was a complete disaster for me, but it was great fun to ride, it was so light and so low you can ride it low speed like a trials bike

No problem! Yep, I had a 535 for a short time but sold it on - too many mechanical probs. The 125 has never missed a best though, they are great bikes, and fun to ride. Look like a big bike too.:D

Nah, my garage is tiny, and half full of other stuff too- see that heap by the door? It goes all the way back. When the virago was in there too I couldn't get into the garage at all, I had to drag the bikes out from in front by the handlebars :D I can just about walk around the SV when it's in there by itself.
