http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/287107.htm
, just about to email someone about it, anything you think i may have missed?
hi,
im intrested in your bike, & have a few questions,
has the bike ever been dropped, is there any damage marks or scratc's to the bike
is it HPI clear
how many owners has it had (how long have you had it)
you say pads C&S tyres are in good cond, when did you replace them
is the full service history from a Honda dealer
how much would you take for the bike cash
thank you

I would harmlessly ask the question....is there some room for negotiation on the price? Rather than expecting him to get a ha*d on cos you mentioned cash.
Mileage?
Has it been used for trackdays,(people here in Spain are very nervous of bikes that have been screwed around tracks) But then again how would you know if it had?

Following on from my question re MOT
If it wasn't long ago, were there any advisorys, did it sail through
If it is due soon, will it be ok in condition now?
May sound silly but i'd ask it.

You could ask how good is it for doing wheelies and donuts on? Is it good for stoppies. If he answers..."GREAT!" then stay well clear! HTH;-)

How old is the bike? Take it its a blade? Yellow?
Tricky without seeing the ad wording.....
A Picture's worth 1000 words so I'd ask for lots....
also is it in daily use?
Be good to know if it's been off the road for aeons....
How long since last service.... etc
That's enough from me anyway...

Looks a nice bike.. I wouldn't ask 'how much would you take for the bike cash?'
He isn't gonna give you his lowest price straight away. I'd simply say 'I can't match your asking price, are you open to offers?'
If it's a yes then you could say 'i could go to £3000 max, would be very keen to view but as it's a long way we would have to agree on a price before travelling, don't want to waste your time or mine!' :-)

have the valve clearances been done? is this something at 16k???
Have you sent it yet? if not maybe make it easier to read and less short questions. Bike looks very nice, hate to admit it but it looks great in yellow!

Wouldnt it just be easier to ring the seller and have a chat with him over the phone. That way you could get a better idea of what he's like as a person etc etc. I wouldnt use email its a bit faceless for stuff like that.

So right down a list of questions you want to ask on a bit of paper before you make the call and just work through your list...

I'd ask him how fast a cheetah can run, which is heavier the European or African swallow and what his favourite colour is.
After all, there's no sense in just you getting in a kerfuffle.
i think kerfuffle is the best word in the world

Nope its 6 hours away, remember the return journey!
And Cardiff to Bournemouth is 120 miles and thats by a route I wouldn't go (just M4 it up to me and head down on the Poole Quay road, much more fun). But even if it is a good 'un how do you intend on getting yourself down there and then you and the bike back?

Dude, you need to ask if the V5 is present, if it isn't then it should alarm bells.
When your there ask to see it, and make the frame number matches the one on the V5 and do a HPI check before you buy. If there is no V5 and there is no reasonable answer for that walk, away. Also if for any reason the V5 doesn't match the bike in any way, walk away.
You don't want to end up with a cloned/stolen bike, becasue it will be taken off you, should that be found out. I know someone who had a £30k merc taken off them for that.
I hope the bike is sweet and enjoy.
Write down all the questions you want answers to. Leave space between the questions so that you can write notes.
Tick off the questions as he provides the answers, he may elaborate and answer some of your questions without you having to specifically ask them. So don't ask them again. If you can record the conversation.
If all seems ok you have to go see. If you go by public transport, get a return ticket as you will be more inclined to walk away if it's not what you want.
Perhaps someone on here would be prepared to give it the once over. Just looking at the simple stuff, no specialist skills needed.
Hovis,
If you can get yourself to Salisbury train station, I think it's straight through from Cardiff, I'd be more than happy to pick you up from there and drive you to Bournemouth. Weekends may be a bit difficult at the moment but I'm sure we could sort something?
My brother just travelled from South Devon to Chester to buy a bike, about 4 hours each way I think! If it's a good un it's worth it!
im hoping to get a lift down,im going to phone him later, thanx for the offer of the lift andy, if i cant sort anything out i will let you know.
the bike looks good, i hope to find out a bit more later, its just a bit of a trek if its not up to scratch, but we will see
there does not seem to be many of these bikes about, as im being quite specific, im not in a great rush, just thinking it may be cheaper to buy b4 the summer comes (i found one in heathrow last night, a few more miles less "extras" and £100 more)
thanx

Just utter the immortal words " a trannie is your friend". (A transit that is!)
i think i have got a nice chap from the CBR forum to take a look at it,
i then hope to get a lift down, and ride the beast back (if all go's to plan)
phoned yesterday, no answer, try again today

Who cares about need? Want is the sexy verb you're getting having a long term relationship with.

It's nothing to do with need Hovis. I don't need a new bike in the summer just like I don't need 2 bikes, but guess what? That's what I wan't so that's what I'm doing!
Good luck with the purchase and I hope Boris doesn't take it too bad!
just got off the phone with him,i asked about the bike & he said which one? so i thought he may be a dealer, but he said he is also selling his moto-x bike, he said he has had the blade 3 years.
he's not willing to drop the price, & he said he dropped it at 5mph small scratch on tail, which has been touched up. crash bung saved the rest, 3 owners

I have just advertised a car on another forum. And got asked how much for cash?
As a private sale I expect cash, do people offer this so self employed people can avoid some tax?

cheque?
and IMO everyone seems to advertise things for more than they actuly want for the item for sale, expecting to get a bit knocked off the price.

£3500 seems a bit high for a 5/6 year old bike that has been dropped, particularly at this time of year.No one is buying now,so if you want it make a suitable offer and stick to your guns.Be prepared to walk as there are plenty more out there.

i tried over the phone, he was not budging on the price, although it was only a low speed drop with the bung taking the impact.

Try an Email asking for close up pics of all the damage. Then reply by Email with the price you see fit. Then let him say yes or no.When he says no leave it.He has your contact details to come back if he changes his mind.

Regarding the price - I guess it depends on how quickly he needs to sell. I sold my mint, less-than-a-year-old 06 R6 with about 3k on the clock for only a grand more, but I needed to sell it there and then :(
It's easy to say no over the phone to price negotiations, but I often find that if you're standing there with 3k cash in your hand then people are way more willing to negotiate! :)

totaly agree........ its a bit of a trek though, he said he will not drop the price, maybe if i waved £3000 in front of his face he would get all excited.......or maybe not
the problem i have is thats the exact model i want (2002 yellow & black 954cc blade)
i will leave it a bit then phone back with an offer of £3000
Would still get a shed load more pictures...
