+1

I'm revelling in Englands misery.

I was having a heated discussion with a Villa fan today, who was convinced Carson is class. I said he was an error prone muppet and he largely contributed to Charlton' relegation....Vindication anyone. :D

Also before the Scots get ahead of themselves, i think now is the time to remind them that they will also be staying at home next summer. :p

Absolute crap ASM. :D Carson is a solid Keeper. I dont think todays game was his ideal debut to be honest. Talk about thrown in at the deep end!
There are loads of factors
Crap pitch,
Nerves,
Knowing that if he keeps a clean sheet we are through.

LOL infact just proved it with that reflex save!:smt038:tongue:

How long will it take to get Jose in McLarens job. What a useless w****r. As they said, the players play well every Saturday but for some reason they cant play for their country. Bloody Mclaren!!!!

Dear oh dear. I have been watching updates on eurosport web site. I am almost glad I can't see it on a TV.

90+2 mins still 2-3 Croatia.

But of course Mr.Mclaren is building a team for the future.Errr hum!

So that will be a new coach then please.

Pathetic.

We couldn't cross the ball past the first man (apart from our 2nd goal), couldn't close down and that was a howler from Carson. If he wanted to change keeper then why not David James??

Motty said after we went 2-0 down, 'wonder what odds you would have got on this scoreline' ... Well I wasn't surprised. We STILL think that we have a right to be in finals of any competition, we don't , we need to play well and we don't.

Not happy.

WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!! You cant just go looking for scapegoats! What the hell do you know about football if you start doing that? You dont qualify from a group stage by winning just one game do you! Look at how we performed over the whole group.

Carson really isn't that great a keeper. The only thing he has on his side is his age. Yes he will make some good reflex saves, but all too often his positioning/reading of the game is poor and it costs his team goals. The third Croatian goal is a good example of this. A good keeper tips that shot wide 9/10 of the times.

Don't get me wrong i'm in no way blaming him for Englands poor performance....they were terrible all over the park tonight, as they have been for the majority of the campaign.

I will end this post by once more mocking England and the inevitable slump in its economy. :p

Seems like I won't get lynched then for admitting that I quite wanted the Croatians to win> Granted I don't watch much footy but IMO they played far better and were more committed - they deserved it.

I was just hoping England didn't scrape through with a last minute godsend so we all fall about praising whoever scored it and forget how crap, in general, they were. About time they had to take it on the chin if they perform badly.

On a side note, was it just me or did the Croatians actually remind me *shock horror* of the good old days of gentlemanly conduct? No real whinging, diving, rolling around in mock agony, screaming abuse etc. etc.

I'm currently piloting the anti-england minivan....plenty of room for you in it. ;)

I think the only reason the Croats wern't up to their usual tricks is that they had already qualified and they were never losing. If they went a goal down there would have been saliva and flares everywhere. :D

I have never liked McClaren as a manager, for anybody, and I've wanted him gone since it became apparent the type of team he was "building". Which is the only plus that I can take from the result of tonight's game. If he doesn't get the boot for failing to make "decent" players look anything more than disorganised, uninterested, unambitious, lazy, negative and less than average (in almost every game they have played, not just tonight), then there'll be hell to pay.

The negatives are that we're out, and that there might be a knee-jerk reaction which involves some of this LUDICROUS restriction on foreign players talk.

Israel did their bit last week, sure Andora coulda pulled something out of the bag to put an end to their losing streak!

Just dissapointing that they didn't get a result for the first time in 29 games!!

I wholeheartedly agree, they never should have been in that position in the first place.

It was an absolute howler though, not a good way to start a game. :)

8.30 a.m meeting for the FA powers tomorrow. No doubt to sort out the extension of Steve's contract then hey?

Mourinho for England? Now if you think this last spell has been disastrous...you aint seen nothiong yet. Not suited to the job at all. You would see record numbers of first choice players taking "sickies" so as not to turn up for international duty.

Jose's way does not work with players he only has occasional contact with. Trust me on that one.

Why trust you on that one?

Not that I want him to take the job particularly, I'd like it to be a successful, winning English manager like.....erm......ooh.....who's the last English manager to win the premiership? ahhhh, hmmm........okay then, hmmm, FA cup in the last 10 or so years? hmmmm.......ohhhh dear. League Cup?! there's a trend emerging. Brian Little for England manager??

McClaren is a second rate manager that has never done anything of significance until now. Let the records show McClaren destroyed a competent England. When Sven left, England had just finished in the top 8 in the world cup. In 1998, we made the last 16. In 2002 and 2006 we made the quarter finals. One year later we cannot play our way out of a soggy paper bag.

McClaren has showed no initiative in picking a side. By all means develop a new team, but stop playing people who have consistently failed to play at 110% of their supposed abilities. He fails to motivate, he has worse tactically ability that Keegan.

The fact that the FA picked him as Svens replacement (OK he was second choice) means that he should not be the only one submitting their resignations.

Mourinho will never take up the job IMHO, he wants the Portugal seat when it comes up for grabs, till then he'll manage a European team, not an English team.

1. They couldn't pay him enough
2. He hasn't got to choose from that many players for his team, compared to the leagues.
3. What's the point, were not in any competition anymore. World cup isn't till 2010.

I am in two minds this morning - on the one hand I really wanted us to qualify because A) I like football, B) I'm English and C) I want to see England playing in the competition next summer.

But on the other hand, I am pleased they did not qualify as hopefully this will give the players and management a kick up the backside. As others have said, they have got to stop thinking that all they have to do is turn up and they will win. Collectively, the English team must be one of the highest, if not the highest paid national team and they are shockingly bad together. I've heard that the players are still getting ~£150k as a bonus for NOT qualifying. WTF!

Mclaren is lucky the English fans aren't like some in other countries or he'd have been shot by now! And Carson.

Really...and you dont think that perhaps people on £50k/wk have a role to play in this? The manager can only do so much...it then becomes the players responsibility! I dont think the players earn half of what they get paid...they have no pride or love for the game any more!

It's so easy to state those sorts of generalisations about the players as facts simply because they are paid a lot and failed. On what other evidence do you reach those conclusions, though? I mean, they're not exactly themselves when they're being interviewed are they? They're all coached into that monotone, safe, cliche cliche cliche, at-the-end-of-the-day, credit-to-the-keeper, don't-make-yourself-look-stupid style so much that they all sound the same. And when else do you hear from them? Maybe you want to see them going mental when they lose, or any other number of futile things that would only make them look more like spoiled brats than it would make it look like they gave a damn.

Any complacency displayed by England throughout this qualifying period is as much at the feet of management as it is the players (I mean come on, if a player looks like his heart isn't in it, don't select him!!), but I guarantee that they all wanted to qualify.

Having worked at a training ground and having met a couple of them I would say pretty good grounds for basing my comments. More-so when the England team trained there! They are spoilt brats who earn way too much!

I think more-so the players tbh...after all, it isn't the manager who plays in goal or his assistants who play at the front. These are meant to be the cream of the crop as far as world football goes.
I personally dont think they wanted it badly enough therefore they are spending the summer in Marbella or wherever the hell they own holiday homes.:rendeer:
