Examine the following:
1. I fancy a new bike
2. I try and self-justify said bike
3. I try and afford said bike
4. I buy said bike

Time from 1 to 4 can be variable.

How much harder than that can it be?

Changing from Bandit to daytona - Bandit needed new tyres... convinced myself I was bored with it

Changing from daytona to GSXR, Fitted new discs to Daytona but bits of other work needed doing and convinced myself I couldn't be bothered to do em...

Considering you hail from the wrong side of the hill, your a bit too loose with them purse strings.

When to buy a new bike. In my case when the missus is not looking. she found the SV and GSXR in the garage fait accompli

So what do you fancy this time Hovis? You've had eric the v-twin, boris the IL4, the single with no name.........is it going to be V4 power next???

I would buy a new bike when my SV dosnt do what I need it to. Currently, I'm thinking of getting a second bike as a better trans-london commuter, something upright, something fuel injected. Maybe a pointy naked SV :D

Mind you, its only a thought. I dont have the money, and having two SV's would be pretty silly, I'd be better off getting somerhing completly differant so I can still enojoy the 650s for what it is (a sporty machine) and get something really not sporty (CBF500 stares at me for this)

Of course, one day I will have to buy a honda SP2.

Personally, sometimes it's a 'need' that I try to justify with financial reasons (like the Varadero, cheap to run, insure etc got the luggage for commuting to Uni n all that)...

... sometimes it's a 'want' - which can only be justified by the simple fact that I want it (like my 'Blade, it was there, I wanted it, job's a good'un).

Both of the above can be scuppered though by the simple fact of affordability, but then that's what the illegal traffic in human body parts is for...

... isn't it? ;)

Only reason why i'll be looking at buying another bike is because the cb is my winter hack.
I'll be looking at buying a nice shiny 08 bike about May time, IF i can either afford it/or get it on finance.
Orginal plan was to semi retire my sv-she'd become my winter hack and id have a new summer toy.
I dont drive a car and so want/need 2 bikes as i dont want to trash whatever bike i get next come winter time, what you going to do with the blade hovis??? sell or keep it aswell as the new one??

Didnt know if you'd keep it as a winter hack hun, in that case id wit until winters over and the roads are salt free before you buy a new bike.

yeah your spot on most dealers/sellers are willing to drop there asking price at this time of year as bikes are,nt in as much demand.
my next door neighbor recentley bought an er6n,he had seen it advertised on the autotrader website at£2695 when he got to the shop it was then up for sale at £2400,when asked the reason for this the dealer stated it was because of the time of year.obviously my neighbor was buzzed up by this and with the money saved is going to get a new zorst etc:D

Hovis, if you fancy another bike, get one. The winter roads might be grimy, but that wonderful solvent, water, removes most crap. Chuck some surfactancts and detergent into said solvent, and it removes all crap!

So buy away, and then come on a big road trip to teh Ace cafe and show me your new bike.

Will it be a Honda SP2?

Why would anybody want fuel injection?

Just get one when you can afford it and when one comes up at right money, even if you still use boris over winter.
