View Full Version : Barely escaped with my life - advice needed!

Hi all,

Well I almost didn't make it back from work alive tonight. Picture the scene...riding down the A40 in relative traffic doing 60-65 ( as fast as I can go bearing in mind thats the speed everyone else is doing), some ar5ehole in an Audi estate comes flyin up behind to within I would say 6-8 inches of the back of the bike, then pulls quickly into the middle lane (im in the fast lane btw) and undertakes me then cuts me up leaving about 1 foot room for me, I slam my anchors on back end in the air...literally! After a few seconds to think and wonder if I did indeed 5hit my pants I go up behind him, not close mind being he's a complete pr1ck and switch my full beam on for about 10 seconds to show my annoyance, the **** decides to start weaving in the fast lane and braking eratically causing me to hammer on,off,on,off causing a real hazard for everyone else on the road. He then pulls over to the middle lane at about 40-50, I go past and have a good look and see some guy about 30ish with black eyes lookin full on charlied up, as soon as I get past him he gets into my lane and starts accelerating faster and faster to the point I was upto 120 plus. I couldnt get in the middle lane out of his way due to slow moving traffic and didnt fancy going into the back end of a nissan micra going 70. As soon as I had a chance to pull over the f00kin c0cksucker starts weaving across to the left so I couldnt get out of his way, after what seemed like 2 mins but was prob about 30 seconds I managed to bear left into the middle lane heart in mouth not knowing if I could control it round the left bend I was in, at that point f00ckin pr1ck bombs past me....I got his number plate though..watch out for some d1ck in an audi estate light colour (silver or white..was dark at the time) reg plate KV52 CHC and will probably be trying to rob ya to either feed a coke addiction or go out lookin for bikers to kill!! what a f00kin pr1ck!!!!!!!!

So with that info in hand I'm off round the local cop shop tomorrow and report the to55er (not that anything will come of it)...so in the meantime everyone stay safe and watch out for to55ers in protective cages...

update***** just spoke to a m8 who's a traffic cop and he has advised me that if I tell the truth about the sort of speeds I WILL loose my license and the pr1ck will prob get away scott free as he hasnt/wont admit to speeding!! Ands if say the car is reported stolen then nothing will happen and I STILL loose my license!!!!! typical...give me switzerland anyday!!!!

Thats the sort of moron that I just let go by, I'm on a bike I've got nothing to prove.

You can't argue or reason or do anything with people like that and it only takes a nudge and down you go. Dont race them, dont look at them, dont retaliate to them or rise to their provocation let the go buy you safe in the knowledge that their knob is smaller than yours and they need to take every opportunity to prove it.

cheers fizz, I think I just need to calm down, I've been in near misses due to pratts in their cars b4 but never been this close to thinkin 'oh ****, I'm a goner'. I've got a baby on the way and all I could think of was the wifes bump. It just makes me sick that he has more rights with the police than me!! My mate was really angry for me but just said thats the way it is... dont think theres anything else I can do except have a drink and learn...did I mention his reg plate is KV52 CHC...;)

What Fizz said. He caused you distress by his driving. It concerned you that he was a danger to you. He then gets in front of you and you put yourself back in the same danger (if not worse) by winding him up further.

I would have just pulled over, let him pass, and thought not much else about it.

You will NEVER win playing bumper cars on a bike.

I used to get really angry when stuff like this happened to me. I used to the ride like a complete idiot because I was so wound up and then I put myself at further risk.

Take a deep breath, relax, swear at them under your lid or question the status of their father and then let them be on your way.

i was thinking the exact same thing fizz, then noticed your reply

No point trying to beat someone in a car (they probably will win in a 6L job and 4 wheels...), just sit it steady and let em tit off and annoy someone else

But i agree, what a bellend, good you kept rubber side down

The roads are full of idiots. Twice as I was driving along yesterday in a great big truck somebody forced me to stamp on the brakes. OAP joining the motorway with their eyes pinned straight forward and instead of matching our speeds as they approached and filtering behind me decided they would make me jump on the brakes as they pulled level with me into my lane crossing the give way lines. The first time I had no way of pulling into the middle lane because of traffic, the second time was avoidable but I was still fuming from the previous incident and decided to see if the joining car would bother trying to avoid me - they didnt. I can understand failing to observe a bike but a truck with big metal bars down the side should be fairly obvious.

I know he wound you up mate, I know how it feels when you think you nearly went home in a wooden box, and I'm saying this 'cos I don't like seeing any biker go home in a wooden box. You asked for advice and this is the best I can give you.

I'm sorry, IMO, you were foolish.

You got away with his first idiot move, know you know he's an idiot stay out of his way. If he races off into the distance like a maniac, all the better 'cos he's further away from you.

Is the car a ringer? you said it was an Audi? It must be an Audi, (and I trust you - Corsa sh*tboxes and Audis do NOT look similar lol, a Corsa 1.1 would have struggled to get to 120mph...?

Is THIS worth reporting to the police?

Might have made a mistake with the reg? But tbh with him driving like that id guess he wouldnt care... so he would use a different reg. :smt013

Thats kind of what I was thinkin, it was def an audi estate, and pretty damn quick so cant help thinkin now it was dodgy, but if i was to report it and mention my speed I would be the one getting done for speeding regardless and would def loose my license, so damned if you do damned if you dont. But with regards to the other comments..its a lesson learnt.

And how are they going to do you for speeding, if a police officer didnt witness you how are they going to back up what speed you were doing. I would have thought that would get chucked out of court.

If you're going to report it just dont mention the speed, just say you felt intimidated and were watching the road and you have no idea how fast you were going. If the other driver says you were doing 120 odd how are they going to co-oberate ( sp ) that.

IMHO they've got no way of proving your speed or the speed of the car. I'd agree a 1.2 corsa isnt going to get up to those sort of speeds, so if it was an Audi it was on false plates...

I wouldnt mention the speed - just tell them that you were cut up by this guy, he looked suspicious, and you saw him driving eratically as he went on his merry way. Then you decided to punch his reg into t'internet and you thought..hmmmmm..?

I'd agree, well if it were me I'd report it, Just tell the car make and the registration and just say in your opinon it was being driven erratically and dangerously and as a road user you felt intimidated, dont make mention of your speed and how you reacted. Put it across that your just concerned road user etc etc etc. At least they'll have it on file and if that person is involved in anything further then they might appreciate all the evidence they can get about the drivers attitude towards fellow road users.

I've had time to calm down and have realised my errors and have learned not to react this way again, you cant win so just get out the way. But yeah I'm gonna go down the local constabulary tomorrow and put it this way...I mean...who wants this scumbag on the road?

i have this happen a fair bit on the way back from Ace on the A406, i just let them go, as said its not worth toying with them, just drop back let them go, SV's are quick but they aint no Gixxa6, on a quicker bike yeah you could just go.....but it still may go wrong, in teh end it aint worth it. shame there were no traffic lights you could catch up at and have a word, now i would do that...

without sounding liek im having a go, i would think twice before letting a car push me up to 120+...i'd find a way to get teh fuk out of his way, let him kill himself....

Fizzy Fish
26-11-07, 08:49 AM
Agree with others, just let these things go. BTW you can ASBO someone due to bad driving these days, maybe worth a go next time when you know you're not at risk of being done yourself for speeding, etc?

As other have said, you just have to move out of the little dicks way so they can go kill them selfs in a ditch!

You may have got that reg wrong if it is showing as a corsa, or as you say maybe false plates.

26-11-07, 11:15 AM
I haven't read the entire thread, but myself I would have pulled over and called the cops to say that there was nutter on the lose.

As others have said get out of the way of them, you can never win a battle like this on a bike. Your own saftey is paramount in a situation like this, let it go. Let someone else handle it, if he crashes then its not your fault.

If you do report this nutter, then don't state what speed you were going at! You were far too busy staying alive, to look at the speedo. You just know that he ws going fast.

neio79
26-11-07, 11:38 AM
you can check the plate for sure on the DVLA website for taxing cars. put in the reg plate and make and see if it works. If it works for the corsa and not the Audi then the Audi is suspect

neio79

Just done the check on the DVLA website and that plate is DEFINATLY for a corsa. So if you are sure on the plate the Audi is using cloned plates!!

As it coming back as that, then is nothing that can be done, either you got the number wrong or its cloned/stolen? Though I would say its reporting as it may time to another incident that may have happened, it may help to catch the nutter behind the wheel.

If this happens to anyone else hang back don't be getting in the way, if any sees the car call the cops this person needs to be stopped.

However here's some more advice - don't brag on a public forum! Someone said earlier that you won't get done by the police because you weren't caught in the act - b0110cks.. Your bike will be ID'd as an SV. They'll trawl public forums (trust me they do it all the time) they'll find your post and you can easily be identified. I'd start praying.

Firstly - id be utterly amazed if the bill come for you , so dont worry !

2 - what they said about this kind of incident - just imagine theres some 8 yr olds driving the car , would you respond or just move over and let the kiddies play elsewhere - just cos the guy's got a beard, dont mean he's mentally any older...

3 - sounds like cloned plates - thats why hes driving like that - its not his car, hes a little kid playing at driving a brumm brummm...

To one & all (& myslef !) count to 10, walk/ ride away !

yes that does sound a little dramatic, but perhaps in isnt the best thing to actually quote a speed

but then one could say any tosh on the net, i dont see too much of a problem

grh1904
26-11-07, 02:45 PM
I wouldn't worry about the speed, I mean you are accelerating to create a suitable gap between you, and due to his driving you are forced into doing this.

This really need to be reported to the Police, I mean what if next week/month we're all saying how awfull it is that a fellow orger is no longer with us, other peeps on the blade/ninja/R1/bandit/hornet etc etc etc orgs are doing the same.

The reg can be put into an ANPR camera and next time it goes through a camera it'll get registered, and if a car nearby it can get stopped. If he was coked up then he'll get done appropriately.

If you go to the Police you can always say that you accelerated and yes you did go over the limit (but not by much say 85 or so) but only to put a safe gap between you both because of his tailgaiting, and you pulled in immediately a space was available, which was after about 200yds or so and immediately slowed back down.

I am :plod: and would never in your situation as described take any action against the m/cyclist, even if he did say 120mph, after all you were forced into doing it.

It's the potentially drugged up nutter in a possibly "ringed" car we want.

grh1904
26-11-07, 02:55 PM
However here's some more advice - don't brag on a public forum! Someone said earlier that you won't get done by the police because you weren't caught in the act - b0110cks. People have been caught and charged well after the event. For example - the two bikers caught on camera weaving through traffic at 100+. The biker doing 170 on the blade (still to be caught). You have just advertised to the world that you were doing 120+. You even named the road and a time FFS! If the incident was caught on camera then you've made the Police's job real easy for them. Your bike will be ID'd as an SV. They'll trawl public forums (trust me they do it all the time) they'll find your post and you can easily be identified. I'd start praying.

Firstly anybody doing 100+ weaving through traffic needs to be saved from themselves.

Secondly, the Police don't have time to sit and trawl through forums looking for this, only to get to court and the only evidence that can be offered is that of someones own brag, which wasn't stated under caution - this would be laughed out of court.

The only trawling that goes on is where officers are chasing the kiddie fiddlers, you know that line that Joe Public is always coming up with "Why don't you go and catch paedophiles etc"

The trawling of internet sites for the 2 bikers would only be done following complaints from the public etc, where public safety has been compromised to such an extent that these people need to be identified, as much for their own protection.

Yep, there are some dodgy drivers/cars out there - just don't get involved.

Anonymous tip-offs giving the plate and car description, regarding the driver being in possession of firearms, can work wonders so long as it's done quickly. Allegedly.
