I think that we need a campaign to bring back this popular mediaeval street name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grope****_Lane), which was subject to prudish Victorian censorship.

Most of these are street names. In fact I went past Fanny Hands Lane once but didn't have a camera with me at the time.

The west side of South Woodham Ferrers, Essex (where I used to live) is based on Lord of the Rings... I REALLY wanted to live in one of those roads but they were all really expensive houses...

map (http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=GB%7Csouth%20woodham%20ferrers#t=l&map=51.64036,0.60505%7C17%7C4&loc=GB:51.64894:0.60923:14%7Csouth%20woodham%20fer rers%7CSouth%20Woodham%20Ferrers,%20Chelmsford,%20 Essex,%20England,%20CM3%205)

Edit: zoom in to see the smaller road names too.

The one on the left is one of Grinch's friends, the one on the right is Phil Mitchell.

Don't be daft it's Phil Collins.

There as a website that searched for funny place names I remember seeing on here once.
I go past Bully Hole Lane sometimes and it makes me grimace.

And signposted too.

If you go up Gay Street (or is that down?), the Rising Sun in Nutbourne is a cracker.

My all time favourite is Slag Lane,Haydock,St.Helens.

Just off the A580 East Lancashire road if anyone is interested.

However it's not relating to what the mucky minded peeps might be thinking, it is a former coal mining area.:p

I will apologise now for the "off topic" nature of my post, but this reminds me of the a time in days gone by when I was invited to go and "play on a slag heap" ... imagine my disappointment when I found out it was full of slate :(

Well, it was back in the day when a new craft shop opened locally but I couldn't understand why they'd blacked out the windows ... don't think my mum had the heart to tell me exactly what "Martial Arts" were back then

Both true stories
