Hi

I'm looking for some help with a Christmas pressie related problem please. I don't ride myself, but my husband has a Suzuki 650. I'm considering buying him a Track Day for Christmas, but haven't got a clue whether (a) they're worth doing or (b) which would be a good one to go to.

We live in the Midlands and so we're pretty central for most places, so travelling isn't really an issue.

Your help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to buy one, if they're not that good.

If he hasn't done a track day before, I would suggest Mallory Park. Midlands track, easy to learn, and lots of track days throughout the year.

Hottrax and Focused Events are two companies who have track days there.

Oh, there is No Limits too.

Yep, definitely a good idea. I've done 2 track days (1 with Focused Events and 1 organised directly through the track) and the Ron Haslam Race School. Personally out of all of them I'd recommend doing a track day with Focused Events: very professional and cool.

Try the calafornia superbike school guys-at Rockingam or silverstone :)

California Superbike School isn't much cop for a one-off trackday, they concentrate more on track training, which means a lot of theory and he won't get much tracktime in. I'd book him into Novice group with No-Limits or Focussed Events at Mallory Park or Donington Park, given where you live. If he's too quick for novices they'll soon suss it and move him into a higher group.

If he likes it and wants to improve, then he could then book with CSS for track training.

Oh, and book it for April onwards, cos doing a trackday in the peeing rain isn't all that much fun if it's your first.

Css do just trackdays. did one earlier in the year-greeat fun-its not the same as the schools they run-its a full on trackday with the css guys there to give you a few hints/tips-iirc it cost me £120 for the day

trackdays are great fun, but tbh it's better if you go with friends than on your own. if your other half knows other riders who would go along too, it may be an idea to try and get a voucher (if available?) so he can work out a time/place with them.

Agree that Focussed Events are a good co to go with, and I can't recommend Silverstone highly enough!

focussed events do gift vouchers, thats what my other half got me last year, 150 quids worth of track day vouchers.

Just thought you should know that in fact Judith isnt Judith at all and is in fact me missus, Elaine , but she posted as Judith so as to not arouse suspicion from me, which was good of her ...........what else is she hiding ;)

Well tbh I have been offered a track day of my choice at any circuit in the uk, however, as I am attempting to get a bit of photographic work in the new year I have decided to put the funds towards some new camera gear :D
