View Full Version : I think I am going to do something really stupid
About 3 years ago I had to sell my TVR. Now I absolutely loved that car and it utterly broke my heart. It has now come up for sale again and I am seriously thinking of buying it back. Trouble is, it would be a toy and I have the bike already (which I won't get rid of) and my daily driver (the Mini) really needs some tlc. Poop. Dunno what to do.
Have any of you guys done something similar? Bought back a car/bike that you had to let go?

I sold a bike back to it's previous (original) owner because he 'missed it so much' !!
If you want it & the price is right - buy it !!

Never actually bought one back but I do regret selling my Porsche :(
the guy i got my blade off used to own it a few years ago, he then sold it due to his wrists hurting, when he guy he sold it to, was selling it after 2 years he bought it back, where it stayed in his shed for over a year, as he never used it.......... then i bought it.
would you use the TVR? can you afford it? and can you afford to buy it but only use it on the odd occasion?

I miss my SV a lot, saw one in town today and spent ages looking at it, even though I know what one looks like!
If you want it and can afford it, just do it.

I don't regret getting shot of mine, it was a horrible nasty piece of sh!t.
Ok, so it wasn't a proper Porsche, it was a hand painted with black Hammerite 924 Lux that had been stripped and raced in the Colway Tyres 924 Challenge. I paid 600 quid for it, and I was royally ripped off. Every panel was dented and it looked like it had been thrown together by clueless idiots, which it had.
At one point I turned up for a Porsche day at Billing Aquadrome in it, complete with VW LT35 van badges** on it - no-one would talk to me. I ran it for about a year then ended up giving it away to a very impressed young lad in a pub when I got a company car. I just handed him the keys and docs and said "here, have a Porsche" and walked out. He must have thought all his christmases had come at once, until he saw it. I don't know, I didn't hang around long enough for him to hand the keys back.
** VW LT 35 vans used the same engine.

I've done it a couple of times and it's never the same the second time round. It's like remarrying your unfaithful ex after the divorce, not a good idea.
