Have a read of this thread of the Aprilia forum. Some guys in the US that developed a motorbike based on a mountainbilke. Interesting to see it from the planning stage all the way through to complete.

It would make an ace toy.

that's really cool! I like that they've put the story of the design in as well.

would be really interested to see what it can do when they put it through it's paces properly...

Really cool toy, and an excellent build

However, it'll have cost a fortune, taken ages and does it actually work any better?
If they're worried about racing against bicycles then just find anything but a bumpy downhill bit.

Unless I was building it just for $hits and giggles, which is something I'd quite like to do, it'd be way better to modify an enduro bike to work better in that particular use.

I also strugle to see the real world aplication of it, but that is amazing. Ive just invested some time into reading the entire post and it is truly an achievment what those guys have done.
Well done to them.:takeabow:

I want that. Agree with Stuarty that it wouldn't be up to much for fast downhill, or even slow downhill for that matter, but for flat trails and the like I'd love one, I haven't the strength for self propulsion any more :-D

Looks cool, I'd love to have a play on one. It's ultimately just a trials bike though isn't it?
thats what i was thinking

On a really boring note, I wonder how efficient they could make one with a little 4 stroke motor, what with peak oil and all that. My little Honda Cub would do about 120mpg and that was quite heavy/old technology.

That does look a hoot! I'm probably too fat for it and would buckle the wheels in seconds.
