So called ghost hunters (http://www.lep.co.uk/video.aspx?VideoPath=PRES/ghost-ley-inn_jh_021207512k_stream.wmv&VideoID=10122&ArticleID=3549659).
We all know the ghost is called Fred, and first in the barn simply have to say "Good Morning Fred" to get a peaceful day. That was according to Terry Richardson who who was the licencee there from about 81 to 87.
The place is not that old as a pub, when I was a kid, it was a farmhouse and converted about 76. during the conversion an old well was found and bones removed. turns out they were a dog that had probably fallen in it.
Co-Incidentally, the licencee Terry replaced was a guy called John Turner, who stupidly tried to hire an undercover copper to knock off his wife. He was a nice chap and invited me to the opening of his new pub, "The Swann with two Knecks" in Chorley when he left the Ley Inn. Maybe the ghost is actually one of his earlier victims
