View Full Version : I've lost my voice
I caught a cold and woke up sans voice this morning.
I need to be back at work tomorrow night, with my voice.
Any remedies?
Hot bath and bed
Has it just randomly dissapeared or have you got a killer throat with it?
Gargle with diluted TCP. It's disgusting but it definitely works.

What do you need your voice for at work? Take an etch-a-sketch instead :)

A girl at my school when i was in year 11 lost her voice through having a cold.
I tok the chance to call her as many names as possible, knowing she couldnt tell me to stop. And when she tried, all she could muster up was a little squeek
Anywho, not sure about remedies. It'll come back qwhen its all healed...just keep wrapped up and have plenty of fluids I guess.
get well soon!

What is it you do? Have I read right in the past you are a nurse?
If so I would have though going into work ill puts vulnerable people at risk. However, if you need to work as sick pay has stopped.... sod them unfortunately, look after yourself first.

Gargle with soluble aspirin? Should kill the apin a little and reduce any swelling?

Aspirin for the throat, and something with lots of garlic in it to cure the problem.
As for going sick, you will know thats a whole can of worms in the NHS and has absolutely nothing to do with protecting vulnerable patients from infected staff.
Lemsip for getting through the shift BTW.
I usually find consuming alcohol has me burbling like a three-badge rock-ape in no time (well, almost) - sometimes in languages people have never heard of before!!

Have you looked behind the sofa?
Hope you're feeling better today:D
So last night I gargled with TCP and soluble paracetamol.
Today I woke up with a squeak. Well it's better than no voice completely.
So I have some lemsip to see me through my shift tonight and hopefully I won't have to shout too much tonight.

Hope you feel better today, but click here (http://health.yahoo.com/respiratory-treatment/laryngitis-home-treatment/healthwise--ue5051.html) for a couple of suggestions. The humidifier suggestion is a really good one, especially for when you're sleeping... if you can stand the noise the things make!
Woo hoo, my voice is back.
I've been whispering for the past few days, but tonight I can actually shout loudly at the women and tell them to push harder rather than using sign language.

Good good, but I've got a cold now. So just had a really hot pasta thing. Burn them pesky bugs out.
On a brighter note your bikes nearly better, headlights should have arrived today.
Will probably venture home friday or saturday and it will only take a few hours to finish off.
