****...
Kitten has a y reg punto that the ECU and coils have just failed on,
not just any punto the rarest auto version with a non pattern available ecu.
Furthermore the ecu is linked to the ignition barrel and connections board for the car.
New ECU - £ 350
lockset £300
Other bits £250
New coils £178
So of to ebay...
Coils £68 - Happy with that all looks good
ECU with ignition barrel and circuit board - £170... ouch but still better.
it all arrives today and it turns out after speaking with fiat that the engine model changed that year from CF2 to a CF3 and we have a CF2 and the ECU and gubbins iv just bought are for the CF3 and are more than likley incompatable, albiet they look the same... GRRRRRRRR!!! and in december too!
however as the car is currently nackered just sat there, ill change the bits any way and see what happens? failing that ills tick the new ignition coil on it which should get it working again for a bit then ill PX it.
just another crappy part to what has been a terrible year... mostly.... grrrrr **** feck....

Jan soon.. chin up.
Its a fiat, It really isnt worth fixing. I'm not just saying that to **** you off.
Several people I know, including my mum have had fiats, and as quick as you fix things they break again.
Buy a cheap Fiesta Zetec S, they are stupidly cheap to buy, fix and run.....reliable to.
I know you anguish though, i have always had french cars. My first car a 205 died, my second 205 never ran right, my 306 I spent a fortune on fixing, one bill alone was £800 odd. My laguna 1.9DCi was of the legendary FK9 engine, it could get 80mpg but also enjoyed blowing up and eating flywheels I spent ALOT on that also and got rid before it blew up fataly...........and fiats are supposed to be worse than french for reliability.

Well my year/december is far crappier
My Bro in Law died yesterday. It was expected, but not this side of Christmas.
He had planned for his funeral and put under the floorboards in his bedroom, £5000 for the funeral etc. and a further £30,000 in readies.
He has a new lady friend who appeared on the scene, she had a new bedroom carpet fitted whilst he was in the Hospice. Is she suddenly very wealthy, is the carpet fitter getting a fantastic Christmas. was the money ever there?
so I have to find £2,800 for his funeral plus extras like getting all his mates p155ed etc. OK I will get it back from the estate, But not for some months. So my christmas will be sh1te one

It's only a car, throw it away and get another
Try the Fiat Owners website forums. You may find another ecu from a car being stripped, or someone upgrading to a custom managment system.

trouble is limited by budget and cars as it must be an auto.. the 1997 fiesta autos gearbox was a dud, and few other cars are any good at all if they are small and auto, with a max price of 2k.

Meh thats nothing.
I had an ECU Fault on my Golf.
So It needed
Service
ECU
two new side trims for the bodykit as they were falling off
The ECU on its own was £500, so plus the labour to fit it and reprogram the keys, the service ( was a major one ) the MOT, Plus a set of front brake lines I think the bill was near on £1200... ouch.
Then two weeks later some idiot drove in the back of it and wrote it off.
I was a tad miffed I can tell you.

You get a fiat
You get dodgy electrics.
Even so, this is a pain in the bum for you, so i hope you get it all sorted soon.
DOnt worry, there is always next year to go well, or even worse to make this one look not so bad?
lol
Chin up everyone, i know its the worst part of the year (i am begining to loath xmas time) but after the 21st of december (ish) the dats begin to get longer...
