Does he put colour in his hair do you think???

I know that stretch of road well. It's very wide, good surface, you can see for miles, and it's an open invitation to let rip. Not that I ever have of course:D

I can't help but think there was a meeting help prior to this.

'ok meredydd, there's been a lot of bad press about coppers getting away with speeding so we thought, you know, if we made a big fuss of your case without actually punishing you we might restore a bit of public faith. Obviously we'll have you driven around by on duty cops during this time- it would be just inconvenient otherwise' *all grab belly and laugh*

me...a cynic?

I don't think the major prob will be his getting around at work - as you say he can be driven - but, what about his personal life ?

I know if was to suffer a 6 week ban (even if I did manage to keep my job) life would be a nightmare

Also, had any thoughts about what it'll do to his insurance premium - I bet the police force won't subsidise that !!?

I'm sure he'll not be strapped for cash ;)

I actually feel a little sorry for the police here. Everyone speeds. It's such a widely abused law that it's lost all credibility, everyone from every section of society, speeds on a near daily basis. Stuck behind a learner? That's because they're doing the speed limit. Doing 70mph on the outside line of a motorway? Look how many fuming people are behind you.

Once a law is so widely ignored by almost every section of society it has lost all credibility but the Police and, to a lesser extent politicians, are expected to uphold it with such fervour and zeal that they really do just set themselves up to be hoist by their own petard.

That's not to say that I disagree with the concept of speed limits, or that necessarily they should be changed, but just that they could do with being looked at, and enforced with a greater degree of emphasis on risk and conditions rather than absolute limits. But speed cameras can't do that.

Not just speeding. The beaurocratic influence of the European Union and it's incesant drive to create a rule for everything means things are only going to get worse. Common sense, thinking for yourself, these things have no place in the EU.

Ha ha ha ha how funny! The section of road where he got caught is about 5 miles from me and I regularly have to trudge up and down it 2 or 3 times a week. It's always littered with scamera vans on police.
