Right, I thought I'd role two questions into one post here to save some time. First of all, I'm thinking of buying some dog bones for my soon to be bought SV. I'm 6'3, so I fancy raising the seat height. Does anyone hav pictures of SVs that have been jacked up. I want to know what the bigger jackups (ie 35mm,40mm, 45mm etc) look like.

Secondly. How easy/hard is it to convert an S model to a naked? I'm thinking of the pointys in particular. From what I've seen whilst looking at the bikes, the job would consist of a top yoke conversion, and obviously removing the fairing. Will I be able to remove the original clocks from the fairing so I can still use them?

Sorry for the long post. Any help is much appreciated

Okie Dokie:

Dog bones will raise the back of the bike up, but you're essentially pushing the swing arm down, so it will make no difference for the seat-to-peg measurements. It will also alter the geometry making the bike faster steering.

You may be better using adjustable rearsets or something to lower the pegs to make it more comfey.

Converting an S to a nekkid's quite a bit of work, IIRC you'll need clip-ons, a new Rad, Front fairing, screen, foot peg brackets, front fairing bracket, headlights and clocks.

Just buy one in the shape you want;)

The rad looks a bit naff with the fairing mountings on show, but mines been like that for months :(

All you'll need is clocks, headlights and some skill in bodging wiring :D

That is if you want to keep the clip ons

On the dog-bones 45mm is a big rise, when i fitted shorter dog-bones (these raise the ride hieght) I found the steering was quicker but the front was more flighty on bumpy roads. I wasnt an SV but on my Z750 35mm was to much. I settled for 25mm and the Z was lower at the back than an SV to start with. As Jambo said you probaly need to look at rearsets for more leg room or fit naked footrests (there lower IIRC)

Unless you like projects I would be tempeted to buy the shape you want rather than convert them.
