I've just bought one of these:

2 Wheeled skateboards (anything with 2 wheels is great in my book ;)).
Had a go on one in Toys R Us whilst shopping for an xmas pressie for the nephew and was instantly hooked. Anyone else got one?

first i've ever seen of them.. looks cool but there isn't much decent riding area's where I live. Used to skateboard quite abit back in the day but gave it up after all the decent places got carved up/or re-designed with those tiny annoying slabs on the floor :(

You should come to Bazza, the Richard Taylor Memorial skate park is great. There's also a decent one near Dinas Powys, on the Barry side. I know what you mean about the road/pavement surfaces though, makes a huge difference to how much you enjoy it.
gettin2dizzy; It's not that hard, I was able to get it going, turn where I wanted, etc. in about 5 minutes and I'm normally rubbish at skateboards. It actually felt nearer to surfing than skateboarding to me. I can't wait to try some downhills on it. Mine should arrive some point this week.

I've been practicing for a few weeks now and thoroughly enjoying it as well as finding I'm getting a bit fitter as a side effect. I've only had one bad fall, which resulted in a pulled muscle. Completely my fault and I was getting over-ambitious with tricks, won't be doing that again in a hurry. :)
Really very good fun on gentle downhill slopes that are free of traffic, but having no brakes still takes a bit of getting used to.

It's possible, but seeing as I can't even ollie and have only managed to land a grind once, I'll give that a miss for now. :)
I've taken it to the skate park and whilst I've only had the nerve to drop in on straight ramps (as opposed to pipes) you can get some great speed on them and I can go up to the top and turn on the wider pipes.

Is one wheel a disaster?

Not yet- I can manual it for a fair distance (although I can't steer at the same time) with the tail grinding along the floor. I'm getting the hang of doing it without touching the tail down. I've only managed about 10-12 foot so far and only properly found the balance point 2 or 3 times.

I've been practicing ground tricks on the grounds that I'm more interested in getting good at using it for getting from A->B rather than just showboating and being able to manual up onto kerbs etc. actually serves some purpose. :)

I'd only had a total of about 45 minutes on it before these pics were taken, hence their being rather tame (although I'm still not exactly tony hawk!). I went back to the skate park last night and managed do do the biggest straight ramps several times, but had an off trying to turn on a wet ramp.
All that bike riding time wasted. :smt075
