I'm at 520-odd miles right now, and am booked in for the first service on Friday at the dealers from whence I was de-crated.
All good so far.
Now, I've just had sprung on me a client visit which is 120 miles away each way (Nuneaton, sounds exciting). This puts the mileage up to minimum 760 without detours/getting lost.
Said trip is Thursday, meaning if I ride it, the first service will show in the logbook as being a bit later than advised. Like 26% too many miles. And its mainly motorway riding, on a young engine (das Manual recommends varying the rpm, not sitting at 5000 all the time, but you all know that )
Would I be daft to do this, or is it OK for:
a) the bike
b) any potential buyer in future who is looking at how the bike was looked after.
If it is OK - am I safe to up the RPM on the return leg as I'll be past the 600 miles, or is it important NOT to, because the service wont have been done....
All I'm expecting is an oil change and new filter, right?
If you've got a new bike, what mileage does your history show for the 1st service?
Thanks
