I don't care what you have, so long as you don't write on the tablecloth in biro again.

Shame on you.

Ed, can I please have an invite to yours? :D

I'd love to do something like that, but my gf prefers the meat and 8 veg option ... and no I'm not disfigured ... I tried desperately to be truthful whilst avoiding the obvious pun ;-)

Although I suggested one of those "Yorkshire pots" (five birds stuffed inside each other with stuffing inbetween), but the gf wouldn't go for it :( LOL

Been stuffed with many a Spanish festive fayre these last 7 years, which is all rather nice I have to say. However one meal I thoroughly enjoy is the traditional turkey dinner. When I dwell on it, it is one of the few things that make me long to be back in blighty as we used to make a big family gathering out of it.

Me cooking it here at some point over the festive season,is never quite the same.:(

i usually have marks and spencer party food. bacon butties when first up. open pressies and start on chocs. party food gets heated up in oven and the day long grazing commences.

On Christmas day it will be Turkey and all the traditional stuff

However I also do a 'Veggie Xmas Dinner' each year with some veggie friends, which harks back from the days when i was veggie too (didn't last long btw!). We go for a Quorn roast with cranberry sauce - it's not bad actually, and certainly beats nut roasts, etc!

My dad makes the most amazing stuffing in the world......I'm gutted I have moved out for that reason lol.

Its his own special reciepe, one of the ingrediants is a special type of scottish square sausage......its amazing.

I will get him to mass produce it one day and sell it.

I might get a goose this year... but mainly it's roasted turkey with homemade sausagemeat, sage, onion and chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets (chipolatas in bacon), potatoes roasted in goosefat with cracked black pepper and rosemary, lightly steamed then pan-fried brussels sprouts in butter and bacon, honey roasted parsnips and butternut squash, minted petit-pois, mashed swede and carrots with butter and freshly grated nutmeg and black pepper, and cranberry and port jelly. I make bread sauce too, and then watch the menfolk fight over who gets to eat the studded-onion from the milk!! Lol. Oh, and homemade gravy made from the turkey giblet stock... I dunno what I'll do as a starter yet, but for pud I always have warm mince pies, christmas pudding, trifle or christmas cake (all homemade) plus icecream, custard or brandy sauce.

I like cooking Christmas dinner!!!!

With neither of us particularly keen on turkey we're having beef this year, with yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, sprouts, new potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy.

Then Christmas pud and custard for Pete, hot mince pies and cream for me:D

I'm doing a big meal for my nearest and dearest tomorrow - huge rib of beef with all the trimmings, cos my brother claims he doesn't like turkey.

no idea what I'm getting on the big day itself tho, as I'll be on a boat halfway down the Nile!

Where are you based in Spain?. Im staying out in Elviria for 2 weeks from the 22nd. Hired a villa with my hubby/parents and sister.

Spent last Christmas out there too and i much prefer the quieter sunnier and warmer Spanish Christmas:mrgreen:

Planning on Scallops with spanish ham for starter - Turkey and chestnuts and then hot pancakes with brandy and cream for pud (as i hate christmas pudding!)..

Where is the "I'm working 3-10pm on Xmas Day, then 6pm-2am Boxing day" option.

This year i will mainly be eating butties with whatever comes to hand from the cupboard. (tins of corned beef or tuna).:smt089

Thanks for asking.....

My 5 and 7 year old boys are not the best veg eaters in the world (all parents nodding knowingly) so last year we hit on an idea.

We asked the kids what they wanted for christmas dinner...last year they chose pie and chips followed by ice cream.

This year we are having sausage and chips.

SWMBO doesn't have to spend 25 hours slaving over a hot stove to dish up a load of grub that no one will eat, which then leads to an argument and usually results in one or both children dispatched to bedrooms.....

Instead grub is cooked in about an hour with minimal washing up, clean plates and smiles all round. :smt058

Sorted.

Merry Christms everyone!

Jessica dear we did not ask what you were hoping to get on xmas morning!;)

SV650Racer.

Well, well! You are literally just 10 klicks from me as presently I am in downtown Marbella. Elviria though is one of my favourite locations,(I know them all on CDS due to 5 years working in the property game here.) In fact by the end of Feb I will be actively looking for a villa there myself.:p Are you staying in the longer established section with street names all after countries?I also like Hacienda Las Chapas just a touch to the east of Elviria closer to Cabopino? No doubt you have popped in to Albert's to view the chintzy decor?:)

I like Elviria and Hacienda Las Chapas due to them having a residential feel and tbh when I am house hunting privacy will be priority over sea view,as after all I can look at the sea anytime I want to!

I have freaks for kids. They actually tuck into the veg first and if they want seconds, it's always the veg they want. God damn they even eat sprouts. :puker:

We're having turkey, gammon and goose 'round my mum's house. Well, I only remember the turkey and goose bit... could be beef as well, no sure. Can't wait to try goose as I've never had it before. My older sister's other half is a demon in the kitchen, he always cooks the most lush food I've ever tasted. With all the trimmings...

The downside is it's disasterously fattening but then I guess it wouldn't taste so nice otherwise...

What a terrific idea!!!! How many miserable Christmas dinners did I - and probably everyone else on here - have to endure as a kid, it always led to a yelling match.

They obviously take after thier dad (ya big freak!) ;)

My little one loves her veg as well although not keen on peas but then again she eats loads of stuff you wouldn't normally expect a 5yr old to eat prawns for instance

As for xmas dinner i have no idea yet what i'll be eating coiuld be turkey with all the trimmings or it could be beans on toast!
