Just noticed it while searching for something else... I can't weld, if I could weld I wouldn't be able to weld aluminium, I can't really afford a welder, and I don't have space for one either, and also I can't weld :smt003 But this seems like it might be occasionally useful, if it's as good as it claims... I'm always skeptical though.

Worked for a fabricators for a fair while, and if it was that good then I figure we'd have used it instead of TIG

Suppose it depends, as you say it's expensive so TIG once you have the hardware would probably make more sense... But if you're just doing occasional work than this might work. Don't know really, things like this tend to look great on paper but not so good when you come to use 'em...

Its pretty fiddly to use so you'll probably waste a couple of rods finding out the best temp, I gave up after making a mess trying to get the right heat, very hot for a blow torch but not as hot as oxy-acetelyne:rolleyes:

A bloke I worked with got the hang of it, it looked good but not as strong as tig so more for cosmetics and small repairs than proper fabrication

Air acet might be the best thing for it then

Using it to fill holes in alloy for re-drilling and tapping sounds like its most useful ability

We're lucky round here in that there's a variety of small engineering shops who do one-off jobs like alloy welding for small amounts of cash. We've also got a place close by who make radiators to your spec if needed, powder coaters, blasters etc. It's a bike builders paradise in many ways.

It's not bad stuff but sells locally for about a tenner, try a nut & bolt shop - but not b&Q or halfwits. Ive used ti repair gear levers and thsat kind of thing. it works wot more can you ssay.

I read that as ER5 suspension.... Thought it seemed like an odd place to start
