I have just found an old picture of my family coat of arms, from an ancient book in "University of Freiburg library, history dept, reading room 1, 4th Floor, nr. 46/2, volume 1-6, Siebmacher 1734". I was wondering if someone could redo it, with straight lines etc, make it look official and neat. Do I need a graphic designer for that? Possibly done on a computer? I don't know how to go about it really.
Here is mine:

is it just me, or does it look like a baby with a wig?

Hmmmm, maybe - more like there's a devil sitting on top there.
Does that make Warthog the son of satan?... well - he does fiddle about with nasty bugs in petri dishes doesn't he? ;)
Aaaaaanyway...
... I've done a few bits of heraldic stuff, art & leatherwork wise, and could probably sort it for you - 2 probalems though...
1- It would help to know what the birds are supposed to be though. Any idea?
It can make it whole different family crest if you get 'em wrong see.
2- I'm as busy as a busy thing on a busy day at the moment so it would be unlikely I'd be able to get round to even thinking about it until after Christmas.:smt087

Bloody peasants honestly.....desperately trying to besmirch the heritage of their betters. ;)
Congratulations on your family animal being a puffin. :p
P.S. if it doesn't contain a Fleur-de-lis you're second rate nobility.

Yeah it seems to have a horny devil on it, not sure what that is supposed to imply haha. K, don't worry about doing anything with it if you are busy, I was just asking around to see if anyone had had it done or could do it. I have no idea what the birds are. I'd say definitely eagles, hawks and stuff rather than a puffin thank you very much :-P.
Oh an Mark, the family crest on my Gradma's side is a noble one, our cousins live in a castle in Germany. Shame I don't get that name hey!!

Firstly the one on the top right is definitely a puffin. The one beside it looks like a penguin. :p
You may find something here a bit closer... maybe easier to replicate...

The one in the middle of the first batch looks helpful... good luck. ;)

Nice one Ping!
I think it's Puffin, Puffin, Penguin.
I think Ping's on the right lines, finding a better record of it rather than getting a drawing re-done but I know nothing (I from Barthelona). Good luck. I've often thought about finding mine but it'd be stupid. Tiny family and unless I have a boy the name's gone (Anyone else from London, surname Windsor?). I have found loads of different ones actually and that's where I stopped. It'd be impossible to trace.
:D
Only kidding about the Windsor thing.
Perhaps it's: Constipated Kestrel, Peg-leg Puffin, Blind Eagle. ;)

I stand by my initial analysis of penguin and then puffin, but the more i look at the bottom one, the more it looks like a seagull.
Did your ancestors live in a lighthouse Nick? :)
