View Full Version : TalkTalk tech problem
Got full use of Broard Band as you can see ( I'm posting on here !) but no dial tone on the normal phone, and when someone trys to ring the house phone it goes stright to the voice mail.
I've rang up talktalk on the mobile and told them of this fault and they say 24-48 hours as there is a fault on the line.
We noticed this fault on the 23 Dec and reported it then...:smt092 that was 48 hours ago now... They say they didn't receive a phone call from us on the 23rd and the fault was not logged. So this time I got a referance number and the guys name.
anyone else had this mess around latley ?
Happy Christmas.
The fault seams to have been fixed all by itself....

No no. They are the worst.
Trying to find an intermittent fault is a pig. Intermittent faults tend to come back just at the wrong time but seem to disappear when you want to fix it. Very frustrating.

Damn straight. And it's never there when you turn-up to fix it.
Ahhh, that'll be gremlins y'see.
They've had to go on training courses and everything to be re-skilled for today's technological jiggery pokery y'know. Simply not as many valves, gears and grinding things to stick spanners in like there once was.

That happens an awful lot with ISP's and BT. You phone them up to report a problem, the standard response is to deny that there is any problem and micraculously 5 mins after you get off the phone it starts working again. Helluva co-incidence that!
I sent an ISP a plain html page as an attachment showing exactly what was wrong with a set of DNS records that they swore 10 times had been set up correctly. The email response was that they hadn't been able to read the attachment but had found a problem and it was now fixed. My ar$e!

I am on talktalk and i have EXACTLY the same problem with mine. The phone will cut out mid-call or just willy-nilly and then god knows when it comes back - sometimes a couple of hours and sometimes days. Most of the time teh intarweb cuts out along with it, sometimes it doesn't.
I'm kinda glad someone else has the problem! Still doesn't prove any use in fixing it tho.
B$stard gremlins, they shoulda stuck to movies.

Just spoke to a couple of friends on Talktalk who said that they had broadband problems over the holidays. Damn, my contract starts with them Jan 6th.
Is this a normal thing?
I've not had a problem with the BB at all, and is pretty quick, 8Mb connection and is realiable.

I think or am beggining to think the fault might be well my own phone. :-(
as it seams to be working now.
Talktalk rang up to say that there was a fault on the line this morning, then a BT engineer rang up later to say there was not a fault...
But the phone seams to be working correctly now.
fingers crossed
