Rear Fender

I know the rear fender looks ugly:(; I've got a SV650S - K6 for a while but still am having seconds thoughts about removing it. Question that I have for the experts is doesn't that rear fender protect the body work from getting rainwater, grime, etc. from hitting the body/tail :confused:? I kind of like to keep my pointy free of scratches - at least as much possible; would it be a good idea to remove the rear fender?

I think the rear hugger looks just fine, in fact, if you want rid of yours (and it's a genuine suzuki part) I'll probably take it off your hands for the right price!
