I got a lovely Laser torque wrench for Xmas. Just got to get a 22mm socket for it and I'll be sorted for rear wheel shennanigens!

Decent quality tools are a must at some point, though- stop me rounding the already less than sharp Suzuki bolts on me lovely bike...

I tend to use torque wrenches more on engines, don't tend to bother on corroded, greasy fasteners on the outside of the bike

changing the subject to just how crap halfords is full stop.

went to 3 different halfords today for some bits for my bike

1st one - had oil filter but no plugs (not any) or oil

2nd one - had oil filter, 1 plug:rolleyes: and no oil

3rd one - had no oil filter, had plugs but no oil

all they seem to be interested in is how many lights, stickers, speakers, shiney fragile wheels etc etc they can put on there little tiny clapped out ford fiestas.

and winner of the worst automotive shop goes to:winner:

Go to a proper motor factors, it'll be about half the price and they might even know what they're on about.

I got these recently:

Excellent lights if you don't want to go to the real big ones with the seperate battery pack. Much brighter than my old ones and they are all you need for road use. Batteries last for ages. Arrived in about a week from the US.

Cheers Keith

Hmm... I was in my own Halfords yesterday, the sale was £230 but that wasn't for a 6-drawer chest, it was for the 5-drawer base unit with a 6-drawer chest free.

Try Machine Mart for toolchests, they seem to be about as good and they're cheaper and have a better range.

Yep I saw that, - they were £149 and £99 respectivly before the sale, so once again another Halfords con. In fact they were still priced as such in Eastleigh today. When I asked if I could have the 5 drawer base and the free 6 drawer chest, (then I was about to try and get the pair for £149), they checked and they had none in stock. I took the assistant to the display, showed him the item(s) in stock, but he still could not sell me any because 'computer says no'.

yeah, they could be putting in phony offers just to lure people into the shop

Ooh, only thing I should have added is that they have various tool chest ranges, not all of them have the ball bearing drawers- as with most shops that have a standard and Professional range, the standard range is largely tat.

I think this is the one I have:

http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ctc109-9-drawer-chest/path/clarke-professional-tool-chest-range

It's very nice, rock solid... The drawers are a bit shallow though.

If you are after good quality tools at reasonable prices then it might be worth checking out machine mart.
