Just to get the ball rolling on this, please sticky mr.ape.

Venue is of course the Shire Horse, where the staff are ugly and there is at least a 20% chance your bike will be stolen or damaged.

So will you be there?

If so what time?

Will you be eating?

Will you buy me a drink? :p(Nick if you come, then i will ensure you are fed and watered....sorry Warthog i mean the Nick that never comes)

ETC.

I should probably put a poll in, or the ape will only gripe.

just ordered a whole load of bits for the zzr so i may be able to make it if i can get its alternator working/wireing fixed. Otherwise ill just have to bring a spare battery in my back pack and hope i can make it there on whats in the battery. All in all im pulling quite a nick.

Unless it's a Dullsville

So will you be there?

Don't know. Depends if Jo can cope with the kids after her latest op.

If so what time?

Depends on above.

Will you be eating?

Depends if your buying. (That'll be a no then.)

I should probably put a poll in, or the ape will only gripe.

I never gripe. I only ever complain.

If the ape turns up, i'm sure he'll give you a jump.

Yup. I'd even help him start his bike as well.

I would say that the majority are usually there by 7-7:30.

Having said that the ape often gets there ridiculously early(6-ish?) and i do my best to arrive as he's leaving. :p

Yup. Well I work in Reading and live in Newbury. I'm not going all the way home to come all the way back to the Shire. If I go home first, I am sure Jo will find a reason why I need to stay rather than go to the meet. So a direct route from work to the Shire is the desirable option.

I normally finish work at 4:15 but stay longer on a meet night. I can only spend so long at work before needing to leave.

Besides I find the me leaving and you arriving works quite well.

So what time are people arriving? I'm probably going to be casually late, as per usual.

Nick what time are you getting there? As i'll have to be there to get your munch.

philbut
08-01-08, 04:36 PM
I was thinkin of gettin there about 6:30. Will anyone else be there then? If not, I'll aim for about 7.

Warthog won't be coming, I've just had an email from him, he's jet lagged and has loads of unpacking etc to do.

I've been delayed at work. I'm last to leave so have to go through a rather laborious lock up sequence before I can leave. I'll probably be there some time around 7.30 ish.

Nothing too serious. Had a car turn across my path whilst I was in the bus lane. Car came through a line of stationary cars. My fault as I should have been expecting it and looking out for just that instance.

Anyway car realises what they have done and slams on the brakes leaving me no where to go. I hit the passenger car door causing a dent in it. Nowt wrong with the Dullsville.

But the driver seemed to think I was a fault. First telling me I shouldn't have been in bus lane and then when I pointed out motorcycles were permitted and showed him the sign, he changed his tactic as said I was speeding.

I said we would let the insurance company decide who was at fault and requested we change insurance details or at least names and addresses so I could be on my way. He said I would have to wait for the police as there had been an injury to his passenger. WTF. I must have hit the car about 5 mph.

So that's why I didn't make it. I had to wait for the police to turn up (which took them half an hour) another pointless 30 minutes wasted giving statements. The one copper apologised for my delay and said the driver of the car was obviously a bloody idiot that doesn't know anything about anything. The passenger was suffering from a sore neck. Yeah right. Hope the driver doesn't go round corners too fast otherwise her neck might just snap off. :smt015

Shame, but as much as I looked, I couldn't find anything wrong with the bike at all. I'm not even sure if I 'fell off' it, there would have been any damage. Those Dullsville's are built of stern stuff you know.

After all the hassle I decided to go home instead. Soz.

Decent meet....Warthog should come less often as he seems to keep the women away. :)

Nice to meet flibble(yes i've forgotten your name).

Shame the ape didnt attend. :( Hell FB even made it there!

As a final thought, i would like to explode the myth that the shirehorse cooks good steak.....that was pretty poor.

Crap news, but it least you know that you're not at fault.

This compensation culture and its accompanying 'injuries'(**** off an injury is when you break or snap something) really **** me off. I would be a c*nt over it because of that. Have the bike checked and the slightest damage make them pay.

Its good news that you are ok. Shame though as it could have led to my succession. :p

about ur injury thing it was probably the driver fault that he injured his passenger by slamming on the brakes.

Nice to see you all again. Cant believe those fe**ing cage drivers and their excuses for bad driving. Still, on a positive note at least you have the police statement to backup the fact that they turned in front of you, that the damage was inconsistent with a high speed crash and that the bus lane allowed bikes. Stupid car driver has dug himself into a right mess.

Are you sure that your neck is okay and that you haven't suffered from whiplash when the bike hit the car?! Personnally I hate this compensation culture and can never make up my mind whether I should stick to my moral high ground or join everyone else in their plan to get rich quick!

See you all at the next meet.

Doh, i don't check the forum for 1 day and the Ape has a smash. Glad to hear it wasn't a bad un mate and you plus the Dullsville are OK + the copper knew the guy was a nobber!

I did get completely soaked, and HAILED ON in henley! I now know my textiles have developed a leak in the crotch - wonderful! Was a eally horrible ride home to tbh, and I didnt enjoy it as my visor kept steaming up - the Caberg is now most definatly a spare lid - long live the Arai!

Good to see a new face Fibble (again, appologis for forgetin your real name - unless you really are called Fibble ;)

Glad to hear about the good meet guys, and sorry to hear about Si coming into contact with the seedy underbelly of car drivers. I have been off work with a cold today too, so I was really nowhere near making it. But seeing as I seem to be keeping all the girls away, I shall return at the next meet to reduce the turnout thus protecting girls from the likes of ASM.
The steak I had at the Shirehorse was not bad, when I was expecting it to be terrible. The $90 steak I had at Peter Luger's Steakhouse in New York, voted best steakhouse 25 years running in the Zagat guide, was sublime however ;)

Didn't notice giant tomatoes, but did have massive onion rings! Only other phenomenal steak I have had was in Lucca in Tuscany.
