View Full Version : lost a furry friend today
:(
our big black neutered tom, shadow, has gone :(
We were hoping he would just go sleep one day instead of that dreaded trip to the vets.He started to look old and worn out and then started to be ill-could still climb up the 6ft garden fence though!
Cant complain, he was about 16-18 years old, we had him a a rescue cat from cats protection and they had guessed that he was about 3 years old when we first got him.
Ruled the house from day one-and conned us into picking him when we were looking for a cat, he was all fussy and loving in his pen-got him home and he sat on the electric box with his back to us for a week!
Really was my dads cat and hes devestated and the dog cant understand where hes gone, even my 2 girls are quiet.

Aww sorry to hear about that Paws. 16-18 years old? thats a ripe old age that, good for a rescue too, he was clearly enjoying life :smt001
Two of our rabbits went over the Christmas period, both due to old age but we still have their three children :albino: which makes it a little bit easier I guess but will still miss them.

sorry to hear about this. i had a cat like that. he was huge cat (just muscle) weighing over a stone and was scared of nothing. every dog to walk past the house when he was there would run away scared!!
Probably the most difficult decision any pet owner has to make that... but then we let these fuzzy beggars into our lives knowing that such a day may come.
When all's said and done, they're worth it though.

Really sorry to hear this hun. I would be lost without my little pickle.:smt086
Sorry to hear that, I know how u must be feeling as we had to say goodbye to oud dog on sat, we'd had her for 17 years and she was like our third baby. At least we let her go before she really suffered. the house seems really quiet now and it's strange not having her meeting you on the doorstep with her tail wagging.

So sorry to hear about your cat Paws, and your dog DarylB :( It's a heartbreaking thing to have to decide to do but often the kindest - our old cat had to be put to sleep last year after he got ill and we'd had him 10 years (he was about 18 years old though :o ). We were devastated, but got a rescue cat to make the house seem 'right' again :)

Losing a pet is always a horrible & tremendously upsetting experience :(
It doesn't matter whether they're young'uns or lived to a ripe old age - it still hurts like hell :(

sorry to hear.
They know when 'time's up' themselves
Only time mine ever just walked into the cat box was the last time, any other time it was like wrestling an oiled up eel into an egg-cup.:rambo:
She'd been ill for a couple of months and had had enough. Her face just said "take me away please".:smt090

Sorry to hear about your cat. I've lost a few in the past, in particular one who was really special.
The saddest story that I've heard today is this :smt022

Its so hard when you have to make that decision :( We had to let our old dog go just over a year ago...we talk to her as if she were still here though! :)
