Hi,
I have a 2000 SV650s and I'm quite new to biking. The problem I am having is after stating the bike and putting it into first gear, once I release the clutch the bike cuts off, any help would be appericated?
Thanks,
G

Are you giving it enough revs? Obvious but I've done it enough times.

Nope the sidestand is up!
My mate had a GPZ500 with the exact same trouble. We fixed it by changing the sidestand switch

Is there anyway of testing if it is the sidestand switch?

Is the sidestand switch muddy or anything?

I'm gonna go with teh sidestand switch too; you could test it by taking the wires out and putting them together, starting the bike and putting it into gear (make sure sidestand is up!)
This would show a faulty switch, since if you have bypassed it and it all works, then the switch is faulty
Matt
Squirt some WD40 on and around the sidestand switch and give it a few operations, it'll probably clear up.

If it should move and doesn't, WD40.
If it moves and shouldn't, duct tape.
