Anyone got one?

May have the chance of one very cheap (bit bashed), anybody got any experience of them?

I fancy something for some only moderately license-losing fun.
If it can entail a loud spanny exhaust, and a cloud of castrol R, then so much the better, I'll probably get it ported to stupid degrees if I get it.

had a NS125F on a F reg very fast for its size had 90 out of it but thats the most i know bout it. Was kick start and had a few problems with getting it going and it nicely empted its fuel tank all over the yard.

I had an 02 model as my first bike and loved it! so light and nice and fast for what it is. never had any trouble with it apart from some twit crashing it to it and then it being stolen!

:) Used to have an old f reg nsr and with the right gearing and set up they can on a good day hit 100mph indicated but need alot of tlc and setting up to keep them in that state of tune.

swapped mine way back for a d reg rg125 with full race spec engine and exhaust that was speed trapped at 107.9 mph on the old croft hanger straight was a nightmare to toddle about on and way to loud for round town lol. Used it to take and pass my part 2 test had to stuff the pipe with pan scrubbers to quiet it down

Not fussed for top speed, so long as it has a bit of a kick at lower speeds and is chuckable, which is kinda guaranteed looking at the weight of them.

Main point of it is for some good old fashioned stupidity on the moors round here, lots of which are very tight and twisty

Well if its fun you want you can realy take the Pi$$ out of big bikes on a good 125 stroker round the twisties :) back when i was a nipper on mine i used to love playing with gixxer 750's and cbr600 round the dales

Better to get a RS125 if money allows.

Having said that, i would probably get a 400, if i wanted a pocket rocket.

Only reason I'm considering one is because it could possibly be very cheap, I ain't buying anything italian.

If I was considering spending real money then I'd be looking in the YPVS direction.

Whilst i enjoyed the handling(and relatively good performance) of my 2 stroke 125', i wouldn't want to go back to one.

Unless you are going to fix it up and sell for a profit, i think you mad. :)

Don't know the NSR but I have a TZR125L and know a thing or two about them...

Chances are for the past 20 years the bikes had 20 owners all of them 17 and all of them learned a little about mechanics on them. Expect all bolts to be rounded. Budget for a chain and sprockets as this is often neglected. The brakes will be made of wood so its pads, fluid, hoses, and a strip and rebuild. The exhaust will probably be full of carbon, there are ways to remove this which get very funny let me know if you need more details. Power Valve (not sure on the NSR exactly) will be coked up as will the outlet port of the barrel, this can be removed with a wire brush. Electrics will be fubarded but the faults should be well documented. Treat it to the finest 2 Stroke oil money can buy and a new plug and it should be fine.

I've owned my TZR for near on 8 years now. When it was on the road it was the fastest 125 on the planet. Power Valved it hit a heady 98mph and out performed a Thundercat and a BMW M-some-thing-or-other (On both of these occasions I have to point out that it was wet and I was invincible at 17). The only down side was the brakes as if I had to use them I needed to provide a weeks notice in writing. They also crash very well.

If you like the smell of 2 stroke in the morning then go for it. Should be a hoot, however may I suggest a 250...

SQuirrel, Im Indoors would be inclined to agree with you. He owned two TZR125's, only thing he wouldn't agree with is that they crash very well. His last one ended up with a 60 degree bend in the frame, when a vauxhall omega decided to have a fight with it. Unfortunatley he got a very large bend in his hip too!!!

He speaks the truth. I too had a TZR125L back in the day and, while I very much doubt that after things like a ZX7R and Bandit 1200 I could stomach going back to that, my RGV is an absolute hoot. Light, flickable, reasonably tractable but with a ridiculous powerband, on a fun per cc basis it knocks bigger bikes into a cocked hat.

Cheap, too, if you can find a runner.
