Go to control panel ---> Display--> Settings then set the resolution using the slider thing.
Like I said in my post when you asked what screen to get, your graphics adaptor might not support a resolution that high.

changing the resolution size should have done the trick, there is no 'widescreen' setting on your computer (unless someone else knows better) - it is hadled by the screen resolution.
ok........... looks great as it is
the writting looks a bit small, i can make it bigger by clicking the magnifying glass at the bottom right of the screen, but this then cuts some of the page off, so.
can i make the writting bigger, while not losing any of the page?

right click, go to settings, advanced, and mess around with DPI!

It'll only do the resolution your GFX card will allow.
If it doesn't allow widescreen resolutions then you can't.
DPI messed about with, i got it on 150%
thats better

since doing that, it takes ages to watch somthing on WMP the buffering stage takes forever, is this coincidance

As previously stated, all depends on the rest of your hardware mate.
Thats an awful lot of screen to fill and if your gfx card and ram aren't up to the job then you're screwed.
You should change the DPI back and change your font size. Problem is you can't have pinsharp graphics and big writing, the two don't go together.
Nice piece of kit though. 360 would look nice through it...
Oh, and no, there isn't a widescreen setting as such. Its all done through the resolution settings ie 1440x900 is widescreen, 1280x1020 isnt etc etc...
Just fiddle until you find something that suits you best, as long as you don't screw around with refresh rates then you can't do it any harm.

/me rubs my 19" 1920 x 1200 1080p laptop :p
I have the 24" version of that and they are very good for the money. The native res on mine is 1900x1200 which is none as a 16:10 resolution. You want to adjust the resolution to the highest res for the sharpest image (also known as the native resolution of the monitor). With mine I have 2 7600gt nvidia cards in SLI mode and they still struggle for games at that high res.
when i bought it, the guy was banging on about how nice it was cos you could have 2 A4 pages on the screen at once........... how do i do that then?

At a guess it would be a setting in Word or whatever other word processing program you use.
Ask your annoying paperclip, he'll tell you.

Got a similar one at Xmas for my daughter - it has a TV built in as well
It came with a cd-rom, with some drivers, and once I'd loaded those it was fine. Before that it was stretching the image rather a lot

You take 2 pieces of A4 paper, and some sellotape ...
Actually, I think whether or not you can do that will depend on the graphics/video card you have in the PC ... if the bloke in the shop didn't mention this vital piece of information, I'd be a bit miffed if I was just expecting the screen to accomplish this task on its own ;-)
Unless of course the screen came with some fancy software?!

They might possibly mean if you load a pdf up, it will happily display two sides next to each other and they would be readable. Another possibility to your small text problem is either you are not used to it (I went from like 640x480 to 1440x900 and everything lookked well small but I am used to it now) or maybe you can select a lower res only in the same aspect ratio?

just bought same monitor - awesome size! Terrible contrast though, even on 100% it cant show deep blacks compared to my old illyama. Still, its big enough to have google and tv going at the same time.

Me rubs my Samsung 24" 1080P Crystalview monitor!
To change to two page view you can either click on the 'read' icon (depending on what version you are using) or change the view scale down from 100% until it is small enough to fit the two pages on the screen.
