Saw black 07 SV on M4 (60/40 mph zone) 8.45am today, 8.15am yesterday, was that you knightrider?
No, not stalking :smt119 was in the car. Took me over an hour to get to work for a 20 min journey!!
Also hi to the bronze SV that waved thanks as I moved over.. I always say thanks to cars if they acknowledge me and so nice to be at receiving end when other bikes do the same \\:D/
Well it wasn't me in either case.

No jelousy here - well maybe a bit.
Got a call from my recruitment consultant and I have got an interview lined up with them. Am doing everything in my power to get the job. I even went to the Honda dealership in Slough to see if they would let me take a look at their IT systems!

Fibbs - when did you come to make this decision then? Was it after I told you how good it was and how the ride position was so good last week? You didn't too interested in the 600RR when we were speaking the other day!

That was the problem, I rode it... spent ages on the "shall I or shan't I" dilema.

Hoff :) - when I spoke to you I already had a test ride booked for Friday, but as it was raining I changed it to the Sat. Been thinking awhile, but test ride made it a no brainer

Thats the trouble. That bike is so good that the SV seems like a big unmanageable clumsey giant in comparison. I had the CBR for 3 months and then went back to the SV...every day riding since has been a dissappointment and I have only just started to forget (after 3 months) how different the two bikes are.
I must admit that as a vertically challenged individual the CBR is much more confidence inspiring as the weight is lower down and the bike is lower in general making slow manouvers and reversing much easier.
Of course the question will be (if I get the Honda job) 600RR or Fireblade!

Chatting to you and all the positive posts on another thread where no one actually said "Don't do it" helped a lot in swaying my decision too.
At the NEC I'd sat on various bikes 600RR was most comfy, being only 5'5'' I was not too keen on R6 and was bit amazed how uncomfortable the 08 fireblade was. Mind.. that is way too powerful for me!
And I'd looked into the avenue of saving the money and perhaps doing some upgrades to suspension, etc.. and even found JHS racing who seem quite experienced with SV mods. But the CBR got the better of me.
Fingers crossed for the job :smt045

You will absolutely love it. End of.
Anyone who says that the SV is better or that the CBR is not for inexperienced riders obviously hasn't riden one.

Is there a difference between "don't do it" and "it's a Honda" ?

I think I need to be clear here - I am not insulting the SV. The SV is a sports tourer and it is excellent at performing that role. The CBR 600RR is a supersport 600 and competing in a completely different market to the SV. The two bikes are completely different and are aimed at different groups.
If the CBR 600RR wasn't better than the SV then I think a lot of people would be wondering where their extra ?3k went. If you spent an extra ?3k on the SV then you would be able to make it lighter, give it better suspension and brakes etc and then I am sure it would equal the CBR - but wait, then it would be a GSXR.
I think SV proved to be an excellent first bike that was both cheap to buy and insure. It got me into biking and I am grateful to it.
Least it's not a harley..

As Mr ASM-Forever says, I don't ride an American built large capacity V-twin motorcycle with a double barreled name. I ride two SV650s, a CBR600 trackbike and a few others. Most of them can be viewed by clicking the link in my sig.

I will never (well, not in the next 3.5 years anyway due to funds) buy a new bike - I just can't imagine being limited to 6000rpm or whatever it is. much prefer to let someone with more money than me run it in, then sell it for 2k less than they bought it for. So many weekend wariors out there (not implying anyone here is btw) that i never really get the point of gettin a brand spanker when you can pick up so many low milage minters for a good price - but then I would say that cos it makes me feel better about not having a new bike ;-)

I haven't planned any trackdays at all yet, still waiting to see what happens workwise first. There's a possibility I'll be at Silverstone on March 31st and that's as far as it goes.

You really need to kick that habit. It'll only get worse and destroy your life you know.

You're correct, and the hole will stay for as long as my feeble brain can stand it. In truth, I don't have to buy a stroker to get my fix, Danny is racing an RGV250 with Derby Phoenix this year, so I'll be kept busy with that.
On the subject of trackdays, it now looks like I am provisionally booked into 15 over the year. When I go to help Danny when he instructs we'll be taking my CBR as well and hopefully sorting out a half day at each circuit. First one is Oulton Park tomorrow, weather could be cold and crap but I don't care.
Oh happy days

What's Oulton park like? Spoke to my hubby (Dan) and he's talking about possibility of riding up to Oulton for trackday and then as it's far away for us, these's ideas on stopping at Donnington on the return leg home
