I have just puchased an onboard camera for my bike. Has anyone any idea of how to blank out my mates number plate who is riding infront of me, when i come to edit the video. I am using a programme called Magix Movies on CD/DVD 3, to edit my vids.

Any Help would be superb.

Get him to ride with a sheet or cardboard in front of the license plate?

Eh?

Or jsut ride about a bit in the recent weather and then clean every part of your bike apart from the number plate...

... mine's so covered in crud at the moment...

... but apart from the lights, the whole bike is.

You can use a simple compositing programme like after effects to remove it if you like. An unscrupulous type would suggest you can find one for free over the interweb with a bit of rudimentary surfing.

But not me. I think piracy is bad.

Really.

I know but what happens if he wanders over the speed limit a little;) Not saying he will. But if he does. We all do it from time to time on our bikes:rolleyes:

Following that recent case with the R1 video which collapsed, there's no legal argument to say it's him. Anyone could knock up a number plate on their inkjet printer that would look fine on film. I guess the difference with that is you can see the bike and leathers etc Why not keep your speedo out of shot, unless you're doing a show off vid.

As said before the industry standard we use for TV shows is After Effects or Shake but that's a bit overkill for your needs - and After Effects does take a bit of getting used to --- easiest option is the cardboard stuck over the plate as mentioned before

Here's the link, to clarify, charges were dropped because of the ID issue, the case didn't collapse in court.
