I asked on another board, but they weren't sure any maybe someone here has done it. I want to remove the sv650 sticker beside the pillion seat, but I'm not sure if it's laquered over or not. I THINK it's not, and it looks as though it would peel with a bit of heat, but am nervous.
Has anyone done it?
cheers Shona

All I can say is that the fairing decals on the pointy are NOT laquered.
However you MAY be able to see where the stickers WERE after you take them out due to fading etc.
But a hairdryer and the edge of a credit card are your friends in this matter.

Oooh, brilliant, thankyou. It's a 2007 pointy, hopefully will be able to polish out any areas that look like they've been there.
Ta very much:D
A little T-cut should sort out any fading issues.

Just to add I am talking about the front fairing on the S model.
There may be laquer to protect the ones on the rear which would be more prone to rubbing from a pillion.
As suggested, put a hair dryer on it and use the edge of a credit card (preferably old one as you will lift the plastic on it with the heat.)
If it comes away easily keep going, if it doesnt, then stop before damaging.
But assuming they use the same sticker its, from memory, a foil sticker.

.............or if you can't get a hairdryer to your bike, boil kettle, pour on the offensive sticker and pick/scrape off. (It does'nt melt your paint or plastic!;))
Removed most of the warning stickers on various bikes this way. (Good for getting rid of tar as well)

It's the pillion decal on the naked, it doesn't look laquered, I'm going to try and see, thanks!

I've peeled a bit and no laquer- doesn't look like fading anywhere either. It's too cold, will continue with a hairdryer at weekend. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Why do you want it removed?

Because I don't like it.

As good an answer as any
Peel it slowly and it should come off in one piece even without heat
a quick wipe with wd40 or petrol if you dont have wd40 will remove any glue left behind with little effort

I finally got around to doing this, they weren't laquered over, and came away easily with a hairdryer. Cleaned off the residue with petrol, and gave it a polish and you can't see where they were.
Thanks for the tips.

Not bad 3 1/2 months to remove a sticker
Don't heat the sticker up from the front as this will make the sticker pliable and more likely to leave th glue behind. Heat the sticker up from the inside of the fairing theis will heat the glue and should be a lot easier to remove without the gunk left behind.
Courtesy of Big Al - just spoke to him about doing mine!
ok jsut got the rest of the post - thanks to works firewall late as always

That's nowt. I've just taken all my warning stickers off this morning... after 14 months!!! It was just one of those jobs that I knew would be a pain and couldn't be bothered with.
And if you want extremes, My last bike was traded in with all warning stickers intact 3 1/2 YEARS after buying from new

I don't think I'd have fit the hairdryer behind where I was removing them. They came off really cleanly - one quick wipe over with petrol and all the gunk gone.
