With the start of 2008 i've been wondering what bike shows or events are about? I know about the big ones like the NEC and London, but what about smaller events? I hear theres one in Skegness sometime? Has anyone been to any?

Cheers, Jamie

There's one up in Edinburgh in March time I think, which I think is a reasonable size.

This weekend (today and tomorrow) is the Trade show for dealers at the NEC. Not sure you can buy much unless you are ordering in bulk though - free tickets available online

I go to this one with a mate who is also in the trade. It was a better show this year than the retail Bike Show at the NEC that anyone can go to.

<makes note in diary to avoid this one like the plague>

Honestly, I can't think of anything more unappealing than wandering around looking at the incredible bad taste demonstrated at these kinds of shows....and that's just looking at the women present, the bikes are even worse.

each to their own lozzo, each to their own

its nice to see bikes where a bit of thought has went into them other than taking a bog standard bike and add a few bits from a catalogue, anyone can do that

now my fellow eccosse'r Northy's SV, thats what I would class as "custom" with a lot of thought going into it :p

ref the edinburgh show

its the dealers and their bikes with very little input from the manufacturers (apart from the fancy signage and lights)

its ok but in my opinion, a tad disappointing compared to the main show in Birmingham

still, gets you out for a day or two though
