Decided, after taking advice, that I couldn't ride it.

:( just seems a shame, its a lovely bike ( for a Triumph ;) )

Are you going to get something else ?

If there was a poll I'd vote "Who Cares"

Not really Ed

That takes some guts to admit, well done.

I feel for you, that's the exact same reason I sold my Gixer Thou, and then the 955i Daytona that followed it after suffering a mini-stroke. Much more at home on the SV now.

I'll put y'alls out of your misery.

I've chopped in the D650. It was too good a deal to miss. I collect my new bike on March 1. It looks like this (not me riding it):

D675 :D
Yup, you're right, the best way to ensure you will crash your bike is to sell it first, but keep riding it.

Ed,Is there a waiting list or more or less off the shelf? I like the 675Trip but they recon up to six months for a specified bike so I'll keep my 955i for another year

No wait. It's actually last year's model - a masterbike edition. In stock, I opted to delay delivery to March 1 as I don't usually ride much in Jan and Feb and it seemed a good idea.

Superb choice of next machine young Edward! Out of curiosity, what has been suggested are the advantages to you with the 675 over the D650?

Lighter thinner younger and more poke.
Not sure about the bike though.;)

Have fun! :D

Make that 4. Well 3.1, at the moment. Have already bought some mods, but still no bike. I have a micron race can, pazzo leavers, seat cowl, tail tidy, tank bag and gel seat, plus some gold top yoke nut (all on one ebay auction) sitting here just waiting for a bike!

Just waiting for the money to come through from my flat...... Soon soon [-o< :D

Is it really that small?

Congratulations. Lovely bike. Now where's that Triumph section of the forum?

Ed

Nope no new leathers, I'm not that vain!!! I bought a new lid at the NEC - it's red to go with the 650, irritatingly my old lid (Shoei Raid, 'Strike' design - BigApe has one the same) goes better.

I'm having some (tasteful) decals specially made up, it isn't quick enough on its own so it needs some go-faster stripes:p

I like the union flag on the bike below - wouldn't go for the other race replica stuff. I'll fiddle with the design a bit so that the flag flutters a bit more:

Pix will follow!! but not for a while, although I might be in Brizzle this weekend and if I am I'll hop in and take a few of the beast.

Whilst it's nice to see you growing up to a larger capacity triumph it's a mere 25cc :(, never mind oneday you can have a proper big one mate :D.

no real affinity for the 675, having ridden a demo bike it's just to small and cramped, and now this knee isn't going to help either :shaking:

the style thing is far to "jap" for me too, but perhaps that's what people want these days ? I'd prefer your D650 anyday.

Still that said everyone (well most anyway) end up changing bike for whatever reason, if it's what you want, at the right price, and you're happy then good on you and hope you enjoy mate.

Cheers Mark.

Nice one Ed, lovely looking bike mate, the 675, tell me though was the 650 a decent bike ? really fancy one but would need it lowering somewhat, about 4 ins apparently , anyway enjoy the new one.

Rode enough of them and had the tt600 myself, excellent handling chassis, good brakes, and the style on the Daytona 600/650 is outstanding, more than you'll ever need on the road and probably the track to.

Cheers Mark.

Nice one Ed. Why the change - noting to do with your cornering post the other week is it?

Make sure you get some nice R&G's to protect the fancy decals for when we get you on track (not that you'll need them but better safe than sorry ;))

Oh yeah, cornering. I wanted honest opinions, and maybe some were slightly too honest. Nope, nowt to do with that, that's me not the bike. Well I've booked CSS1 at Rockingham to sort that out. Plus the very kind forum member (who got an unfair slapping for their trouble from someone who should know better) has repeated the offer they made, and I will gladly and gratefully accept it. I have seen this person ride, and it was fantastic.

Change is more to do with being a lot lighter - the 650 is a heavy beast. Newie's also a lot more grunt lower down. Plus, that noise - even on a stock can - it's orgasmic. It won't stay stock for long though. I also couldn't ignore the economics - I'm getting practically what I paid for it 2 years ago, and let's be brutally honest, a D650 is not top of most peoples' list, so where else would I get £4,500 for it???

Unless they've bored out his old bike by 25cc & put it on a diet etc. I doubt it very much.
