Ah well , just managed to recover enough from my embarrasesment enough to post.

I binned My rex on sunday on the A19 nr Selby,

roundabout at the end of selby bypass with 2 other bikes,, i thought my mate in front had taken an odd line accross the roundabout, thn realised why, hed seen the diesel spill, i couldnt see it till i was on it, only doing bout 30 , i kept it straight on the antiskid but soon as i got on the rbout it went our from under, so not so gracefull pirouette down the road, in a shower of sparks and plastics,

luckily myself and the bike hit the road separately, hole in my trousers and bruising to my leg suggest the bike hit me on the way down but i dont remember,
i didnt skid far luckily ., i let go of the bike and that didnt flip which was good, that means only damage to one side,

i ground down the crankcase cover, lost the mirror , bar end, the usual scrapes to the pegs, cators levers and shifters ok, bent the givi rack though for the top box, which probably stopped the bike going over .

so ive gone through my nex ixs trews, holed them and bust the seem in a 8in long split, tore te toe slider off by new boots, holed the elbow on my jacket, the armour moved ( i lost 6 st but kept the same jacket) and i banged my elbow bad , but its ok just bruising......chicks dig it lol
hit my head but only very slightly, tiny scratch on my arai, its not getting binned,

so now ive £250 of parts on order from kawa and some man garage fun planned for the weekend.

when i tried to get up i couldnt stand, thought my legs wernt working, but realised there was that much diesel it was so slippy,

the nice police saw it on cam and sent 3 cars (no ambulance mind) the traffic cop who came was great , the local guy was a *****.

i heard on there radio that thered been reports of skidding all morning, i asked the copper how come it took a biker to bin it before they thought to do anything.

it was nice to know that the traffic cop saw fit to breathalise me before he put the accident signs out and covered the spill with his car..................

so all in all pretty lucky really, nothing permananent or major, well apart from financially.

it was bad though cos it was ians first ride since he had his big crash in september, wed just been to pick up an auto aprilia loan bike for him ..( thats another youtube related story http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JT_IdconW1I) and he was leading , i hoped he not seen me spill , but he saw it all in his mirrors, he was ok which was good.

ah well
F***** diesel spiliing b*****s

Glad you OK cap'n! Nasty stuff that diesel.

If they saw you go down on CCTV, is there any chance they can find out who dropped the diesel on the road from same camera? Then you can sure the git. :D

Heal fast.

Your last sentence sums it up for me.:smt013

Sometimes you get lucky and you get a sniff of it. Big spills like that, you may as well be trying to control your bike on ice.

Hope the two of you repair quickly.

Just told the missus about your little trip down the road.

Her comment. "Good job there is less of him". She then qualified it with. "or is that a good thing ?"

Do you want me to give her, her much needed slap. Or you are quite welcome to come over to do the job yourself.

Fat Bikers Bounce Better?

Sorry to hear about the "off" but glad you're okay-ish.

Tip:
Make a FOI* request to the local authority and ask if if the spill had been reported before you went "all Robin Cousins" on it. If it had been reported then make a claim on the Council's insurance.

Bad luck dude. I'd be tempted to check with the council too, plus see if the old bill can spot the offending pr*ck spilling fuel on CCTV- might be a long shot but imagine the satisfaction of taking the basta*d to court - he wouldn't overfill again in a hurry! :smt117

it was on the A19 selby bypass, which is trunk road therefore highways agency operated.......and i used to work at the depot thhat received the response request.

im going to chase the police to get info on when it was reported, to the HA agent, and when they initially received reports,

but ,
ive worked for highways all my career, and its very difficult to prove liabillty against a managing agent, they have a min response times and stuff, but these only start when its been reported to them, try to sue the police for not acting in time???

good luck

highway code places responsibilty on the driver/rider to drive to the prevalent conditions.............

i dont hold out much hope to be honest, , lesson learnt and all that.
