Sad news.... R.I.P. Heath, he bears a striking resemblance to a guy I work with!!!

Damn:(

Thought he was great in The Patriot and A Knights Tale.

Just heard it mentioned prior to Film 2008 :(

He was superb in A Knights Tale, although Paul Bethany stole the film :)

Who??

Never heard of him. Hardly a significant actor. Then again with that name it is hardly surprising.

Why bother posting Tim?

Your post comes across as disrespectful :(

Because I heard it on the news tonight and thought Who?.

Yes he would have had a family who will quite rightly morn him. But hardly a loss to his profession, no James Dean and what might have been.

But hardly a loss to his profession, no James Dean and what might have been.

A man who was revered as a 'celebrity' just as much for what he did off the screen as what he did on it. Not the best example if we're picking someone who was irreplaceable to their profession for their acting alone?

Besides, just because you haven't heard or seen of him doesn't mean he wasn't a pretty big name. He's been in some very high profile stuff in lead roles so he wasn't a non-entity.

Ah, but then again, I don't want to cross the acting guru, if you haven't heard of him Tim then he can't be as significant as I thought, silly me

i know this is a bit odd but the bbc website linked says this:

"He won an Oscar nomination for his role as a gay cowboy in the film but the award went to Philip Seymour Hoffman for his role as Truman Capote."

Surely that should be he was nominated for an oscar no won? i would have thought the bbc site would be slightly better written than that.

At the end of the day he was a pretty good actor and its a shame.

MeridiaNx
23-01-08, 01:20 AM
No, they often refer to it as 'winning the nomination'. Suppose it's used when that is recognised as a feat in itself. No doubt whoever gets the respective party nominations in the US soon will be described as having 'won it'.

...hardly a loss to his profession, no James Dean and what might have been.

Nah.
He was a very good actor. Its a huge shame that he's dead.

Its very sad. 8 blocks away from me too.

He was in filming with Terry Gilliam a film with Tom Waits cast as Satan... Tom Waits would have been a very good Satan.

He plays the Joker in the new Batman movie Dark Knight.

His co -actors were liking him to a future Marlon Brando so I heard, big shame.

A very sad loss. He was gorgeous. Was looking forward to seeing him as the joker.

RIP dude. :(

Btw guys - Showing disrespect for someone who's just died shows very poor taste. If you haven't heard of him and couldn't give a crap, it would be decent of you just to refrain from making any negative comments. It simply annoys those who HAVE heard of him and see it as a sad thing.

The guy had everything going for him, it's such shame!
I wonder what was really going on in his head, must have been really depressed:(

Comment from Timwilky is disgusting - you don't know bikers reported as dead in the news but would you disrespect them this way? Shameful.

Heath was a great, gorgeous actor who had a very sexy smile. I first saw him in '10 things i hate about you' and when he danced across the steps singing 'i love you baby' i decided there and then to put him on my freebie celeb list (that i'd be allowed to do the deed with without scorn from the other half). I now have to think of someone else to take his place.
Actually....other half no longer exists so i can have as many celebs as i like!

Its not definite that it was suicide.

If you couldn't care less why bother posting? You're knee-jerking again.

Whoever the person is that`s died, whether we knew them or not, whether we enjoyed their acting abilities or not that person is still somebodys parent, child, friend, spouse or partner and in my opinion deserves respect. Acting abilities to one side this is the loss of Heath the person, the father, the brother, the son. A little girl will grow up never knowing her father, simply hearing about him from strangers and seeing him in films. A sister will live the rest of her life with a hole in her heart and a mother and father will for the remainder of their lives have to live with memories of the day they buried there son.

In my opinion disrespectful and insensitive comments are only going to cause ill feeling.

Rest In Peace Heath

It's dead sad. Just goes to show that looks, fame, money can't buy happiness - we're all in the same boat at the end of the day. :(

His poor daughter.

seriously tho i think it's really sad how fame/attention can send people off the rails. Britney is another very tragic example - just hope she gets herself together before she ends up the same way, esp with kids involved

Tim I think you've really outdone yourself this time !!

'Hardly a loss to his profession' ??

'. . .no James Dean and what might have been' ?

His death IS a loss to the acting profession - please don't confuse fame with talent !!

As for James Dean, well at best he was a one dimensional actor who had the good fortune to be an extremely good looking guy. As for what might have been - pure conjecture. But, if he hadn't killed himself behind the wheel of his Porsche, I don't believe he would ever have achieved true, universal 'superstar' status let alone become the icon that he has !!

They have said on the news tonight that he found playing the joker in the new batman film v v dark and disturbing...so bad that he couldnt sleep due to nightmares and so was taking perscribed sleeping tablets to help him sleep.

yeah, I heard that one too.
That the role demanded that he work himself up into this manic frenzied very dark deranged sort of place, and stay there.

On the one hand, you have to say that they are actors, this is what they do, they *act*, its not real.

On the other hand, well... say take Daniel Day-Lewis, who by... well, anyone's measure is an exceptional actor. DDL gets into his roles. Very seriously. As in when he was in that In the Name of the Father film, he locked him self up in a prison cell, for very extended periods of time, and had people keep him awake, scream at him, play very loud music at him, and throw buckets of water at him.

Then he did his scenes.

Same sort of deal for most of his films. In Gangs of NY, which wasn't a great film, but his part, Bill the Butcher, was one of the best roles in cinema.
People were terrified of him when he became Bill. The whole crew. He would lock himself into a trailer, and work himself into complete rage.

So, they are actors. And they are also humans. And, if you put yourself through some psychologically tough things, its possible that it can effect some people.

Possible.

Or... he might have screwed up, and taken too many sleeping pills, because he was exhausted.

No one will ever know essentially.

Regardless, he was a very good actor, and this is a very sad way to go out.

Don't forget one of his best roles - Brokeback Mountain

It is a sad loss
