Well our heroes went back to work this week and put the new machines through their paces. There were plenty of tumbles with Valentino taking a rather spectacular one and everyone's favourite tiny Spaniard breaking his right hand in another.

The final lap times are shown below. Interesting for me that at this early stage Jorge Lorenzo has out performed ALL other Yamaha riders.

1. Nicky Hayden (USA-Honda) 02'00.326 (77 vueltas)
.2. Casey Stoner (AUS/Ducati Marlboro) 02'00.660 (27)
.3. Jorge Lorenzo (ESP/Fiat Yamaha) 02'00.766 (63)
.4. Colin Edwards (USA/Yamacha Tech) 02'01.179 (34)
.5. John Hopkins (USA/Kawasaki Racing) 02'01.198 (48)
.6. Valentino Rossi (ITA/Fiat Yamaha) 02'01.425 (48)
.7. Andrea Dovizioso (ITA-Honda) 02'01.447 (51)
.8. James Toseland (GBR-Yamaha) 02'01.745 (45)
.9. Chris Vermeulen (AUS-Suzuki) 02'01.748 (50)
10. Loris Capirossi (ITA-Suzuki) 02'01.778 (62)
11. Randy De Puniet (FRA/LCR Honda) 02'01.873 (56)
12. Shinya Nakano (JPN-Honda) 02'02.032 (38)
13. Alex de Angelis (RSM-Honda) 02'02.198 (37)
14. Anthony West (AUS-Kawasaki) 02'02.725 (58)
15. Marco Melandri (ITA-Ducati) 02'02.978 (39)
16. Toni Elías (ESP-Ducati) 02'02.995 (67)
17. Olivier Jacque (FRA-Kawasaki) 02'03.030 (40)
18. Sylvain Guintoli (FRA-Ducati) 02'03.628 (39)
19. Niccolo Canepa (ITA-Ducati) 02'03.703 (49)
20. Tamaki Serizawa (JPN-Kawasaki) 02'04.354 (27)

The real interesting thing for me is that Nicky Hayden continues with his amazing work ethic and has put in considerably more laps than any other rider each day of the testing.

:( - Elias, Guintoli, Capirossi!

:D - Toslos, Rossi, Hayden, Edwards, Hopkins(On the kwak!)

Thing with pre season testing is that however many laps you do etc, once to a certain point, this will have no affect on the final race.

So i never use pre season as a tester, anyone else see it from this point.

Heh he's on the list, just a long way down it. Way off Stoner's pace, disappointingly.

Edwards beating Rossi...

Blame the hand or blame the tyres...

Edwards is saying the new Michelins are sweet. I wonder if Rossi will be liking his new Bridgestones after a few races.

More interesting.....Edwards fast time was on a race tyre- not a qualifier!

Jorge's was a qualifier.....

James was suffering from horrendous chatter, so the bike wasn't performing at all. I think he did a pretty fantastic job!! This week it is Phillip Island Test, starting tmrw I think? Really looking forward to it.

By the way, if anyone fancies going to James' send off party at Donington on the 22nd Feb, contact Gemma at RBP for tickets 01652 680060 or email gemma@rbplimited.co.uk
Tickets are £15, and the lovely Suzi Perry is hosting the event.

Who beat Rossi? The Big mouth has been? Michelin or Bridgestone Edwards will be miles behind Rossi at the end of the season.

Colin Edwards continued his impressive 2008 form during the first day of testing at Phillip Island on Wednesday, where the Tech 3 rider used a qualifying tyre to lead Ducati's Casey Stoner by 0.6secs at the MotoGP world champion's home track.

He was Rossi test rider when at Fiat so now he has a chance to prove.

I am confident in Edwards disability.
