Ok, given the choice, would you rather have eternal life* or endless money (but mortal).
*The restriction with eternal life is that you must always live it as poor ... well ok, not poor, but you can never have more than enough to just get buy ...
What do you choose and why? ... I think it is a toughy ...

ooooooooh. well some of the best things in life do come free. Of course bikes don't fall into this catagory, unless you are a little thieving sh*t. its a tough one.
Well, i get by quite happily on a research grant which is pretty minimal and still have fun. i choose eternal life, so I can throw my ?500 hack on bald tyres about without fear of death! Plus I could save money by not buying alid and leathers as I am invincible!

Eternal life so that my studying of The Holy Bible can continue forever.
money - who wants to live forever?
Money.
The lad I'm sat next to said life. But what happens after world war 3, when everyone else on the planet is dead? His response: I'd be happy, I don't like people!

No, poorer than that ... just enough to clothe and feed yourself, no luxuries at all (like a £500 nail, that is still a luxury! ;)), you are literally existing money wise, you will never go hungry or cold, but just existing ... that is it ...

Ah well in tha case, I want to change my response. That sounds similar to being in a coma - alive but with no real LIFE. I chosse the money then. Please make cheques payable to...

define "eternal life"
what happens at the big crunch?

What happens if you lose an arm? Can you be killed? Decapitated etc.
Or is it a ground hog day scenario?

That isn't true, you can live a very full life as someone with 'just enough' money ... you have a home, you have food on your plate, you can have friends and family, you just have no money ... like if you did have kids (they would be mortal) you could only feed/clothe them ... you could never buy gifts ...

Lets make immortality be a bit more attractive ... not only do you live forever, but you cannot be harmed ... well lets say you grow back/mend if you do hurt yourself ... you also PHYSICALLY stay your current age forever ... (no point being 10,000 years old and have aged at human rates!! :D)

Endless money. Theres too much crap going on in this world for me to want to live in it for longer than I really have to. Give me money, let me buy a nice house, a load of land, several bikes and set up some laboratories for scientific study, and some really nice guitars. I can then spend my life doing what I love and leave something behind for others to either apreciate, or destroy...whatever humankind's desire should so be.

Well living for ever sounds good, but I would out live all my friends and family whcih wouldn't be good:( So you would start over again every few generations so where would that leave you? Also by the way things are going would yoy sent to see the end?
If I had a supply of money that didn't run they I would be able to enjoy life and not be stressed through the work and trying to find enough to live and to do what I want.
Taking the money and having a fun life good life sounds good to me. Though not being able to be hurt, sounds good as well? Can I have money, live a normal life span but not be hurt?

it does not make sense at all, if you were able to live eternal life you would become so clever that you would be the richest person on earth:rolleyes:. your knowledge would be so vast that giving just a single lesson in life would cost a fortune....see what I mean:smt045. that's what i choose:-D:money:
unless you were retarded (mentally handicap) to start with:rolleyes:
Eternal life. I'd join the military and be put to good use somehow, surely they'd have some role for an immortal that stays at their physical peak and can regenerate themselves. I'd end up being an explorer of new worlds, I'd be internationally renowned. I wouldn't need a penny of my own to be happy doing that. That's what I would want someone else to do, so that's what I'd do myself.
Although, you have to define "endless money". Where does it come from? And what can I do with it? Write off all 3rd world debts? Infinitely fund charity organisations like unicef? Give as much as I like to anyone I wish? Turn Madagascar into the number one world superpower?
Id definitely take endless money, as with the cash, i would spend all my life that I had making the most of it. I wouldnt go to work, I'd do everything I have ever wanted to do and just live every day like it was my last. Of course the material things would be great, but to see the world travelling would be much better than to just exist. I see people who just exist everyday.

It's not supposed to be a bullet proof contract stop trying to get the best of both worlds! ... the concept is endless money or endless life .
Anyway, for those who are interested in the concept and what it says about human nature (and why I started the thread/poll), is that it is a cold fact most people would choose endless money ... :money:
One can also conclude that humans feel money is more important than life itself ... yes, those that have said money are effectively choosing money over life ... you would trade a few* years of life being extremely wealthy for life itself ... what does that say about 'us'?!? ;)
*even if you lived to be 110, it is still 'few' compared to eternal!! ;)

ah yes, but it all depends upon what you perceive to be "life". To me, Life isnt about existing, going day by day just scraping by. Life is about feeling alive and doing something which makes you feel good. To me that is learning, seeing and getting an adrenaline buzz from the activity which I am doing at that time.
Who honestly wants to live forever when you would see all your family & friends die?

Me, but obviously not so that I would see that.
All I'm saying is that you don't need money to lead a fulfilling and satisfying life that can make a difference, ESPECIALLY if you have a "super power" like immortality and invulnerability.

Voted for life then had a think. Money please!
I would have the money and enjoy my life not working but doing exactly what I wanted. How would this mony be given, one large lump sum or whenever you bought something you had the money for it there and then?
I would not want the eternal life as why would I want to live forever and stay 29?? All my friends and family would grow old and die, leaving me alone in the world, and the same would happen to everyone you grew close to, it would become more of a curse than a joy.
Nope i would rather age with everyone else and use the money to enjoy the life I have.
I'd take the money and use as much of it as it took to research living forever...
Naah, just kidding.
I'd take the money if I had to make a choice of the two, but I don't think it says anything about human nature that most people choose money over life. Most people here have stated they wouldn't like eternal life because they'd have to watch their loved ones die: I'd expand this by saying "would I rather live another 60 years or forever?" Gimme the 60 years thanks...

Can always make new friends and have more kids.
Choose the right friends and you can have lots of fun doing both at the same time.;)

I'd go for the cash I think, just because I don't quite fancy the idea of floating around in space millions of years into the future when everyone I care about is long gone anyway.
At least with cash I can pay off these damn loans and do all the things I want to do before I die (hopefully without dying in the process) and then I at least will felt I have made the most of life. If I had eternal life I'd get bored very quickly of all the cr&p that goes on in the world.
