So, when visiting other nations, this is the first impression a foreign power gets of me...

Would you buy a used soviet tank from this man?

What's your worst official photo?

There's a little story that goes with this picture, and why I have that look on my face when I had it done...

I was born out of wedlock, my mum married a few months later. So I was born as Jaime Goodbrand, then re-registered as Jaime Cheeney a few months later. My mum and father split up when I was about 4, and my mum decided I should take my step-dads name, Winch. They also split up when I was about 14, and my mum, my brother and I all reverted to the name Goodbrand.

Thing is, my mum was a bit lazy on both of my previous name changes and hadn't bothered to tell anyone about it. As far as the Law is concerned, my name is still Jaime Cheeney. All my school records are now inaccessible, and I'd booked a holiday in the name Jaime Goodbrand, which was non-refundable and non-transferable.

When I went to the post office to get my photo taken I had just spent the previous 5 hours trying to deal with this, and it was the last chance I had to get the passport sent off before there was no chance of me getting it in time for the holiday. So I wasn't in the best of moods. Added to this is the fact that I am rather a tall chap, and I had to slouch in my seat to get even that much of my head in the frame. Therefore, the worst photo of me ever known is the one I use to enter new countries...

Still, it runs out in another 3 years, so not long to go now eh?

On the plus side, I do have a passport in one name and a birth certificate in another...

In my passport photo I look like a middle eastern terrorist.

I have watched ex-girlfriends sail through passport control while the numbers on mine are tapped in not once or twice but three times, presumably on the assumption there must be SOME warrent for me. A cheesy smile has not helped. I know your pain....

What?

Think he might be asking for more details on the tank you've got for sale? T&T I presume? 'Has seen action' might clinch the deal perhaps :smt066

I, or someone with a similar name, is on the International "Do Not Fly" list.

Caused all sorts of fun at Heathrow this one time.

Ask Vixis about it sometime - she tells the story SOOOOO much better (and with so much more venom) than I do :).

On 31st October (yes, Halloween) 1997, I left my dead-end office job in the Midlands to move darn sarf for a new career.

My last day in the office was full of the usual tricks and pratical jokes - i.e. a car full of balloons and tinsle. However, one practical joke will never leave my mind.

I strolled into the office, walking down the corridor, past a colleague who just looked at me, pointed and started giggling. After an hour or two of working, and noticing that my workmates were trying to refrain from giggling a lot, I trotted off to the smoking room. In their was another workmate who greeted me with an, "FFS, am I sick of seeing you today!".

 I hadn't seen this person once all morning.

Then someone else came in the room, gestured at me, and said to the others, "I can't even have a p*** in piece without her staring at me"

 Eh?

As I stood to leave....there on the back of the door was an A4 'Wanted' picture of me....except that it was taken from a passport size photo, enlarged over and over with a very bad photocopier. The end result was a grainy black and white image baring a striking resemblance to Myra Hindley :smt045

As I patrolled the building and further afield, I found the picture on the back of all the toilet cubicle doors (mens and womans), on all noticeboards, on the bus shelter outside, on all the placemats in the local pub, in the mens urinals (a friend informed me of that one), attached to the dartboard, and many other places.

I had a day of people pointing at me in work and in the street and laughing.

I found out later that the intention had been to get even larger prints done, and glue them to the bridges over the M6 so that I could see them as I left the midlands the next day (thank god they never got the time to do this).

Still, I had to laugh with the amount of work they'd put into it
