New / Returning Riders Ride Out

As the 'newbie' rideout in the Rideouts section of the .ORG has been suspended, I thought I would suggest one on here for folks in the Patrol area.

I am willing to lead a ride at gentle pace to include roads which you think may be a challenge. The object will be to have fun, learn about riding in a group, discuss problems and go away with a big grin. This is not a riding course or any kind of teaching experience, just a chance for new riders to go out and find out what rideouts are about without feeling intimidated.

Post up if you are interested. Any more experienced riders that want to come along and lend an ear are most welcome.

That sounds a great idea and would benefit me enormously... I do feel a bit hesitatant to come on rideouts in case i slow everyone down so i`d really appreciate any experience i can get, put my name down in upper case :D

Hi mark, welcome to the madhouse! One of the meets is pretty close to you, the Bridge Inn, Llangollen.

Keep your eyes on this section, and you'll meet us all (if you really want to :lol:) someday.

Not a problem at all easter. IMO, the more the merrier. I've done several rides where I've been sub 30mph in NSL areas because I've been with novice riders. Even novice riders on SV's.

Tell your friends that I also have a pair of 2 way radios with throat mics available for use if they want any reassurance etc post test. That applies to anyone out riding at the same time as me too, if you fancy a natter whilst riding, give me a shout & I can bring the radios, regardless of who uses them.

Some people frown on radio chatter whlist riding though, but it depends on the use of the radio really.

Welcome Mark, as Stewie et al have said ... keep an eye on the Border Patrol section and get yourself down to a couple of the meets (and/or rideouts!), and you'll get to meet the gang - we're a good bunch :) honestly :)

Now from what I can see, most of the folks wanting to come on this ride are from Merseyside and Cheshire, so for a change thought we'd head up into the Peaks rather than N. Wales. The route avoids the Cat n'Fiddle as it will be busy since the Snake Pass is still closed for resurfacing. So the plan is to meet at Knutsford Services on M6 (southbound) My understanding is you can still access the services from A5033 and this is how we will escape.....

SAY TA-RA ME DUCK and head homeAbout 55 miles in the morning and 75 miles in the afternoon, taking it steady is about two hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon including general faffing about. We will use the drop off marker system, where the first bike behind the leader stops to mark each junction / turning. We will appoint a tail end charlie (TEC) to sweep and move the markers on. This will be explained in detail when we meet.

This is intended as a ride for inexperienced riders to get used to a bit of group riding, pace will gentle. Emphasis for everyone should be on observation of road hazards and other riders in the group, keeping good spacing and so on.

All aspects of the ride will be discussed before setting off.

Experienced group riders are welcome to attend to pass on experiences and help with marking / TEC or just to meet friends new and old.
