View Full Version : Should Idle Banter be categorised?

OK, I don't get too much time to be surfing the org and loads of times I have missed some interesting threads because they go round so quickly.
Is it time to split 'Idle' further ie - Sport, Websites, IT Help etc etc for a better .org experience?
I will happily volunteer my services as a Moderator for, say, a sport section as its something I am interested in.
Thoughts?

Nope!
sections which look quiet die a slow painful death.
Maybe encourage people to use the rating button.

dunno, mate, i can see your point, but quite often topics drop pff the front sheet quick because theyve run out of steam or are of little interest to most orgers, so i dunno, maybe its like a natural selection thing were the interesting topics hang round.
there are sport forums and tv forums and all sorts of others that cater for that, i know what you mean though, as a community we like to share what we find of interest.
personally i think we have enough boards all ready, but ill go with the flow.......after all , i ont have to moderate them..

Start making use of the unread threads buttons. ETC.
Give up going out and surf the org 24/7?
EDIT: No to splitting. IB is IB, just keep up!

Short answer = No
Long answer, we're primarily a site about SV's, secondary about biking in general, all aspects of it.
Idle Banter is an off shoot of this and I think to categorise IB into different sections may well dilute / divert attention from what we are all about. I also think we have enough sections already, I dont particularly want a sub forum just to talk about football or TV, or computer stuff. I dont see whats wrong with how things are now.

I'm going with "No" as well. If it were categorised then I fear I'd miss out on all those wonderful tangents where a post about football suddenly derails into a heated debate about the relative merits of different artificial insemination methods of hamsters.
If there was a seperate subsection for "football" I'd probably never wander in and learn new stuff to argue about...
I'd end up spending all my time, alone (unless anyone wants to join me) in the hamster insemination sub forum...

Hmmm, I can see where this is going....
Twas just a thought really...
one other yes would be nice though:help:
Looks like I'll have to spend more time orging and less time elsewhere...

Hamsters are generally awkward bad tempered bastids who hate everything including other hamsters,so a special sub section on artificial insemination for hamsters could be very useful.Bring it on.:smt045
Come to think of it they are a bit like me.:D

There's a joke in here somewhere. I know it. Hmm, artificial insemination, hamster, biker biggles.... There's definitely a joke there somewhere. Or innuendo at any rate. Help me find the joke people, I'm obviously far too grumpy today to figure it out for myself.
