OK, I'm a noob to the SV but with a bit of nouse on dukes (748s,ss & monsters) so I'm not oblivious to the problems of combining various non standard components. I've bought a cat d pointy S which appears standard. I'm happy to do all the performance mods but the the suspension is a different kettle.
I'm around 15 stone kitted and while I haven't ridden the bike yet I guess the suspension is going to be on the soft side. My intention is to replace
forks - GSXR 6/7.5
rear spring - as above
I THINK I'll also need spindle, yokes and wheel (may need to match the rear for cosmetic reasons? How are they tyre sizes going to affect the handling?
If I use later forks I'll need new calipers (and discs) as they're radial but if I use earlier kit are the caliper mounts the same distance apart and are the discs the same diameter and bolt configuration?
Hi, and welcome:D
A read through this thread might give you a few answers.

One thing to note though that the above link gets wrong, the SV wheel will not fit the USD radial brake forks. I'm using K4 GSXR 600 forks and bottom yoke (which went straight into the K5 SV headstock with the same bearings), black GSXR 1000 calipers which are the same as the gold 600 ones, and a LSL top yoke to take straight bars. The spindle on the USD forks is much bigger than the SV one, there is no way you can use the same wheel. And be warned, straight GSXR wheels are hard to find and expensive.

I'm moderately sure all the GSXR ones are.
eg mine is the one fitted to TL/SRAD GSXR 6 / 750 etc. and they use a completely different way of spacing and clamping the front wheel.
Does using an SV wheel include using different bearings too?

You've read it wrong mate, if you look across the wheel compatibility it's just telling you what year GSXR wheels go with what forks thats all. Nothing to do with SV wheel.

It can be done with SRAD forks on a curvy but its a lot of hassle. It involves making a new spindle, disc spacers and ZZR1100 disc's (for smaller spacers) , can't remember the exact specs but it is possible on a curvy. To be honest its not worth it as the rear wheel speedo conversion is so easy to do, leaving you with a standard GSXR front end.
But you have a pointy so it doesn't matter........
