just got an 04 sv650 race bike and noticed that each head breather has been capped off looked in the manual and they call them the PAIR these vent to the airbox does any one know if these are ok blanked off the bike has been run and nothing seems to be wrong but could it cause long term damage

AFAIK, PAIR is an air feed *into* the exhaust (at the head) to provide oxygen so unburnt fuel, er, burns! I've no idea what it does, performance-wise. It will help stop all that nasty banging and popping on the overrun though. ;-)

He's right you know.
PAIR is a way to clean up emissions, if they're capped off, then RTFM, find the solenoid and check it's been removed, as since you're building a race bike you probably don't want excess weight.
If the solenoid is still there, then you'll have to do a bit of research into how to fool the ECU into thinking it's still there, otherwise you get an FI light on.
