I am trying to make heads and tales of all these specialist organisations out there that try to educate us on carbon emissions and how we can help to reduce it. Personally I feel like a bit of a hypocrite as I ride a great big bike - as a toy, and drive a 4x4 on the school runs...

TBH my reasons for looking at it are more a commercial gain than anything else but its all starting to tug on my personal conscience the more I look into it.

What I cant seem to get my head around is the organisations that you can donate money too in order to offset your Carbon Footprint. How do you know firstly that the causes they are supporting are getting the investment - or is there some cheeky sod sitting at the end of the website collecting a great wad of cash and investing as minimal as possible along with purchasing that great big villa in Spain....

Anyway - has anyone looked into this and can offer some advice on who to trust? What to look for and where to start...?

Who cares. Pure economics mean I try to reduce my energy waste. However, I will not permit anyone to dictate how I use energy.

And..... what about these were tax that they are putting on 'ungreen' lorries that enter London?

I can understand the ?200 fine/tax/robbery is a detterent, but how exactly does it help the whole thing, and where does is go?

Bit off topic I think - sorry. Just something that annoys me.

Where all other tax goes. Into a huge black hole, none of it used for the purpose we've been told it was for.

Wats a bet we will all pay a green tax in 10 years time... if they can they will!
