Do the standard silver k3 wheels have a paint code? I know the fairings are YD8 sonic silver, but are the wheels the same?
Not that I know of. The hammerite smooth silver is a close match. I've had the same problem touching up my silver frame. Used Ford Status silver for that. I'm about to do the fork legs and they're another shade of silver!

Ahh right. Well I told the painter that just standard silver would be fine, but if I found out that there was a specific code I'd let him know.
Standard silver it is then:)

what sort of paint is the sprayer planning to use?
if poss' ask him to use a 2 pack - or even better, polyester powder coating
Ive sprayed the exhaust hanger with Hammerite smooth silver and it is a very close match (so close I cant tell the difference)
I blew in the subframe on my silver framed K3 with silver smoothrite after removing rust patches around the rear footrest mounts, and you couldn't see the difference. When I repainted the forks I used Simoniz 5 wheel silver and painted all of both forks so I didn't have a paint match problem.
I've just given the forks a spray of aluminium silver. Too bright, compared to the original colour. I've now bought a tin of vauxhall steel silver, which is darker than the original colour but looks nice, similar to the engine shade. I'll let you see the outcome when I update my ongoing article 'diary of an SV restorer' on the main site.
