Has anyone had Septo-Rhinoplasty before?? (In other words a nose job?)

I'm going into Hospital in a months time to have it done (ouch) and just wondered if anyone could offer any advise? (Apart from "don't have it done!)

Wha hey! My thrice broken and now slightly turning to the left nose is also to go under the hammer and chisel shortly also! Dunno about you Mrs.Wotsit but dont fancy being awake listening to all that crunching going on?

Best of luck with it.

Not aiming for a drastic change tbh. Just to not make it look as if I am an ex boxer. Not looking for it to make a whole lot of difference to how the world sees me,just a personal bit of maintenance really.

I'm having quite a lot of work done. They say it is common so was just interested to see if anyone here had experienced it. They reckon two week recovery, so I shall be in need of some entertaining on here!!

Expect to be a bit sore for a week or so, there`ll be some bruising and a lot of inflammation inside your nose. Your breathing will feel a bit compromised immediately after due to the swelling inside so get yourself a stock of ibuprofen in. Having said all this the results are gonna be more than worth a week or so of discomfort. Very best of luck hun x

Some very helpful suggestions there! lol

I offered to do the breaking bit for her but she's declined my help!!!

You try your hardest to help and they don't want to know, eh Phil?

When she comes out she'll likely have two black eyes. You can point at them and say "You don't need to tell her, she's been told twice already"

Ha ha, had already planned on something very similar!

Great minds aye!

So is it purely for aesthetic reasons?
(not a criticism, just curiosity)

Where are you being treated? I had some stuff done in the Nuffield, they were great while I was in there, but after care was a little poor. The anaesthetic was nice though, I could do with some of that when I go to work!
Good luck girl X

3 weeks to go - eeeek! If anoyone can recommend some super strength pain killers, please do!!!

I had a septoplasty (sp?) done back in the late 90's - no problem - single night in hosptial (but only because I didn't go into theatre until about 5:00pm)

Just one word of advice - when the nurse removes the packs from your nostrils - RESIST the urge to blow your nose - as copious amounts of dried blood, snot etc, etc will come flying out & spray all over the place !! (I was lucky when I did it - all the nurse said was "I don't think you want to do that again!!")

As for the rest - well it was a pain having to use a syringe to squirt salt water into each nostril for a couple of weeks - but no major drama.

whats the tool? and would it help if I got drunk before hand?

yorkie_chris
20-02-08, 01:51 PM
Depends if you're taking your own out.

The tool is like a hooked scalpel blade iirc, smooth on the outside of the hook to get under the stitch.

I've always found larger noses to be quite attractive on girls.

So you'll be safe then.

Why would you be flamed?

I feel silly for not having the strength to deal with people who feel it necessary to make remarks etc. but at 24 I should be able to go on a night out and not come home early and in tears as I am so self concious and another numpty has found it funny to say something.
Its been an issue for aslong as I can remember and having your self confidence and self esteem knocked for that long is hard to claw back from.

I know I should just be able to ignore people, but the damage has been done now and I don't think there is any other option for me if I want to start to re-build my confidence.

the pain will be worth it as it will change so many aspects of my life and even though phil24_7 loves me the way i am, maybe I can start to feel good enough to be in the relationship.

And then...move over the real kate Moss...mini moss is coming through!!!
