Poll here: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=104673

At the moment its only Tony and myself at the shire and i assume Phil/Nick at Fox's.

DINER! ONE N! Anyway. I will be there, so everyone else had better come! I thought it was going to be more people than this dammit! And there is nothing wrong with the weather, it says pure sun, and +1 degrees by 9am already. So STOP whining! :-P

Just the elite then. :)

As it stands myself and Tony at the Shire Horse and Nick/Phil at Fox's.

Unless you post/call we won't be waiting at either location!

Jon post if you're coming!

Just to point out the primary reason I am not coming out is because the front pads on the Honda are wafer thin. I have the replacements but decided to use the relative mild weather to do some work on the SV.

Oh thats a shame you are not coming :(. I wanted to ride with you. For the record, this is me and Phil leading now, so it is not stupidly fast speeds in a straight line, but should have same speeds in the curves ;)

I have some preprepared excuses....ahem.

1-I'd only just got the bike.
2-It was a few months after my accident and i still had a knee with all torn ligaments.
3-I was still officially in the the run in period.

So bah to you.

I am still not at 100%, but intend on destroying all comers tomorrow. :p

Oh, that's actually 3 bloody good reasons. You wern't slow by any means, I'm just poking fun. I look forward to you handing me my but-tocks (on a non-brokeback way of course). :D

You do realise, you've just laid down the gauntlet ;)

Just cycled home from town and i can confirm it's definatly in the minus temperatures. We should be careful early morning as there may be some ice. didn't see any but there could be some at points. there are some wooded areas where it's not uncommon for ice to persist later than usual so just worth bearing in mind.

I will be on the SV as I'm not entirely happy with the brakes on the ZZR, as I didnt get a chance to finish bleeding them fully. still, i dont intend to do over a ton anyway.

i came home early from the pub just for you guys - do i get a gold star?

See ya'll tomorrow lads. hope yu make it john.

I went out very briefly just to make an appearance. I was mocked for going home early. :(

I'm also pretty worried about ice. Although as it isnt set to rain, surely there should be very little? I'm a little inexperienced in this area as its usually melted by the time i'm up. :D

Watch out there this morning guys. Little old Jack Frost has been out working his magic. My replacement heated gloves came yesterday too. Shame they sent me the wrong ones and will have to go straight back again.

KnightRider
16-02-08, 08:26 AM
Mr frost was indeed out, but the sun is also pretty strong so hopefully most of the ice will have dissappeared by 9.30. Still we should take it easy in the wooded areas etc.

To be honest I would prefer a light ride anyway, imho if you gun it the whole time then you are just asking for trouble.

Warthog
16-02-08, 09:12 AM
It should be fine, just take it easy at the start until you notice the raods are ok. Anyway, I am up and about, so see you soon!

What a crap day out! First corner out of my road and I nearly lose it...rear lost traction bike heads for the ground and give a bit of full lock on the opposite direction just get the bike upright.

Spent the next 30 mins waiting for ASM and when he finally arrives my battery dies on me. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Tsk tsk you lot are pathetic apart from Jon who had a mechanical problem! ASM sees one patch of ice and goes home! Me and phil had a nose around Fox's and M+P and then went for a private blast up the old B4011. Roads were lovely and we got some really fast riding in; it was fun! Then we went and set up Phil's suspension on the ZZR. Conclusion, with the 1200 rear shock, even on maximum springyness it only travels 20mm, Phil needs to eat more pies!
Oh and I did another wheelie by mistake. Good day out!

philbut
16-02-08, 04:22 PM
The roads were fine! a bit greasy in the shade but on the whole some very grippy surfaces. we had a pretty spirited blast, some nice 110mph corners on the private race track ;-)

I just had to tinker didn't I. I tried to bleed the breaks on the ZZR some more and now they are worse! Time to stop fannying around and fit the fireblade calipers me thinks. Cheers for the help with measuring stuff Nick.

I went out for a mini ride this afternoon.

From what i saw the roads were dodgy until about 11:30.

With Jon going home and Tony staying in bed, there didn't seem much point. It would have been a lonely ride up to/back from Fox's.

i went out on sunday and did the ride we were meant to do on saturday. started about about 11:00 and the roads were fine. Fish hill is in the shade and so I wasn't able to go at it completely flat out as I wasn't sure about some of the surface, but on the whole it seemed very grippy.

I have also fallen back in love with the SV, the ZZR just feels like a barge, despite being faster on paper. SV does feel cheap though. damn nick for selling his ninja, he's awoken my bike buying urge from hibernation again!

EDIT - although i havent even looked at my bank balance in months so i may have to stick with the SV for a bit longer.
