Hi, If you are looking for an SV or know anyone who could be interested, please take a look at my auction. I am only selling because I got an offer I couldn't refuse on a friend of a friend' Fireblade. Result is the SV's gotta go.

Thanks for that. I will be sorry to see it go, especially at the money that I expect it to fetch, but then I did well on the Blade, so I guess its what you've got to accept when selling a used bike. There is no way I would ever buy new (well, maybe if I had more money...)
I can't get this 'must have this year's model' mentality, particularly when the very newest bikes are generally too extreme for the road (if they're sports bikes) and choked by the latest emissions gear.
Very nice!
Did you get the high level link pipe and the exhaust bracket with the exhaust?

Thanks for the postitive comments. The pipe was on when I bought the bike, I assume the link pipe was also from Scorpion, but I could be wrong. To be honest, the pipe is a bit too loud and after the last MOT I left the standard can on for a while, which Mrs Scwirral approved of. I bought a baffle insert off Ebay which has calmed things down a bit. The high level pipe looks good and helps ground clearance (like I ever lean over that far!) so I wanted to put it back on. Just had to drill a single hole in the can to locate the baffle.
Still think I'll put the Suzuki can on for the MOT ;)
If you know anyone who is looking for a great bike cheap, then do us both a favour by directing them to the auction! I wish I new someone myself who wanted it, as it really is a bike I would be happy to sell to a mate!

what blade did you get?
CBR900RRW, S plate. Slated in the reviews of the time for having gone soft, but faster on track than the earlier bikes AND more comfortable as a road bike!
I know that you struggled for a while to sell your SV, Hovis. What happened in the end? I have been sitting on the SV over winter waiting for Xmas to pass and the better weather to be a bit closer and have seen a couple of tidy SVs sell on Ebay for realistic money, so I thought I would give it a go. Have set a realistic but fair reserve. I know that brand new bikes like SVs and ER6s are often discounted to £4k, so an early SV is not going to make big money, but I am not going to give it away for nothing.

nice blade, looks in good cond
in the end i sold all the extras seprate, i then sold the bike for £1200 standad, which i was hppy with, as i made a fair bit off all the bits.
good luck with the sale

Yeah, I have set a reserve knowing that if the bike is a couple of hundred off then I can offer it to the winning bidder without the can, hugger, bellypan, braided hoses etc. They can then either up their offer, take the bike without the extras or drop out and I'll try something else.
To buy a rough example for say £1000 and put it into this condition would probably cost more than £500, but no one pays for mods, good tyres, chainset etc when they are buying used.
I am chuffed with the Blade. I thought it would be really hardcore, but it is just like a well suspended SV, with a lower centre of gravity and a load more umph!

Just so I've got an idea of how much mine will go for, as it's proberly the same spec.

I think its a lot of bike for the money, and my reserve is much lower than this one sold for. Fingers crossed, eh.;)
i had 30+ watchers.............. but no bids, nope not 1

It's a funny old thing, Ebay. I'm sure there are people out there who deliberately bid below what they guess will be the reserve as some sort of sport.
Mine is a seven day auction, I'm watching what's happening, but of course the first six days are really just an exercise in advertising the bike to anyone out there who could be interested. It's up to £560 now, but I don't expect it to approach my reserve until Saturday or Sunday.
At least if it doesn't sell It wont have cost me a great deal.
If it does sell, then I will end up paying a fair wack to Ebay.......
If you decide to sell it without the extras, can I have he linking pipe ;)

9/10 for cheekyness! I am of course hoping that the bike WILL sell as it is, saving me a lot of trouble. To be honest, I think that I will do best selling the can and link pipe together, although you may wish to make me an offer I can't refuse, or to buy the can, pipe and hanger as a set. Let's hope you don't get chance! ;)

Out of curiousity why are you selling your SV? Not getting on with it?
Apols for the OT.
yes... make you an offer and get the SV free with the linking pipe ;)

I think you'll find the pipe a bit on the expensive side if we go with that!
Auction is going well. 40+ watchers, 12 bids, £870 so far and three days to go.

Well at £10,040 the bike didn't reach my reserve. It's worth more than that to me.
I am going to wait a little while before deciding what to do. I may sell some of the mods separately and relist the bike again with a lower reserve, or put it in biketrader or MCN.
If I do split the bike, the parts I sell will appear here first!
Its just a shame because it would be worth far more than my reserve price to someone who wanted it. Its just a case of finding that person!
I can't beleive how many people asked sensible questions about tyre life etc and then didn't bother bidding. Must be a lot of very bored (boring?) people on Ebay.....
At the end of the day, the auction had 766 visits, 45 watchers and 17 bids, but didnt reach its reserve.

Whats it made of Solid Gold?
I dont blame you, keep it and try again. I relisted a race bike three times and it went on the third attempt. You might be worth holding off just a little as the weather is improving and bikes will be more in demand soon.

Try a classified add mate. I've always had more luck with them on ebay. At least then people actually come to see the bike in person, so they can see its in good nick. I think they work out about ?13 or something like that. It's always more tempting to buy when you can actually sit on it etc rather than just looking through pages of auctions.

Thanks for the tips, I have had a look on biketrader and MCN today. There are a few nice looking SVs for sensible money so I think I'll go for that. I'm a teacher, so I'll time it for the Easter Hols so that I can allow as many as want to come and see the bike.
My bad on the price. If it had made £10k, I would have accepted that ;)
In the mean time, if you hear of anyone looking for a clean, honest and INEXPENSIVE bike, pass on my details!
