by our own kid.

So the wife and I had a drink tonight across the road tonight and it ended up with a few for the road. the daughter no 2 (the one I don't talk about) was working the bar.

we had a few after normal hours if those exist round here were called.

Now I don't feel very well. My throat is burning. The wife is the same. has she used glasses with line cleaner in them?.

I am too well oiled to drive. yet I feel we need to waste every bodies time at A&E.

Well if we don't survive the night. Will somebody please pass on our concerns to the inquest that we think that we may have been done in.

If I don't post a survived the night message to thread, please send a copper to chez wilky. I don't want to be found and remembered stinky.

The lines won't have cleaner in them; it's a big myth. Anyone who works in a bar will be more than aware of the obscene amounts of water pumped through, the fact most bars can never be arsed, and that the stuff they use nowadays is pretty soft.

Having worked in many bars, I can say the chance of it being line cleaner are slim to none, unless it is a proper nasty pub.

Its more likely to be dishwasher fluid, a glass not rinsed properly etc. In either case, shouldn't do you any harm.

It was a very strange one. Even the daughter who had not been out with us complained of a burning in her throat during the night.

I was drinking cask ale
The wife was drinking bottled Magners and then 2 cups of coffee

Dinner had been early in the evening and the only spice was a twist of the pepper mill. Was it simply hysteria?. I had a burning sensation in the throat and everyone else in the house got on board?.

I was worried. But, as you can now see by the fact I am posting still alive and well. Just off to the solicitors now to ensure daughter no2 who pulled the beer does not benefit from my will and will have no need to try to poison me again in the future.;)

On a budget, you're probably better off with carb cleaner.

Definately :-D

Actually in a pub, you're probably more likely to find CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), as it is (or was when I worked there) used to keep the lager/bitter tanks pressurised. CO2 is denser than air, so it settles on or near the ground, which is pretty lethal because first you'd pass out, and then hit the deck, where the saturation of CO2 would be even greater ... one of the first things I learnt in the trade was to properly ventilate the cellar when de-pressurising the tanks ... and then generally to stay well out of the way for 10 minutes.

But as MissYC says, neither is a good way to go :(

Have had the good stuff too, not bad. still wouldn't make a habit of drinking it neat, would be able to feel my liver frazzling

The big myth is that beer is watered down, now line cleaner is a different matter.

Many things can happen at many different points to allow line cleaner to stay in the lines from machine/equipment failure to human error and believe me when I say beer line cleaner is not mild. If you get it on your skin you can feel it eating your skin away (that slimy feeling is not the cleaner, it's your skin), it'll bleach your clothes easily and if you happen to wipe down the top of toilet cisterns with it, you can make coke heads have serious nose bleeds!

I have had some half-wit at my pub serve a pint of line cleaning solution to a customer as an ale, god knows how he didn't smell it even if the solution was slightly murky!

To answer your question, line cleaner will make your throat very sore as it will strip some of the skin off and can leave it inflamed, how much cleaner you have consumed will determine how bad your symptoms get/got!

A club local to me had a bit of a different policy, anyone found dealing fell down the stairs and was relieved of any "substances" Lot's of unfortunate accidents in that place.

I know that type of place, I used to work there!
